I'm reporting the ranger companion issue as well.

 

I was playing in Caed Nua trying to find that wizard master guy in the "The Old Watcher" quest in the "Endless Paths of Od Nua Level 1" area. I went up the back stairs where you walk across Dr. Manhattan's hand and pop out the cellar door in Caed Nua's courtyard. Wolf was still with me. Went back in the door with that creepy statue lady who's probably a cat lady in a past life. Wolf was still with me. Went downstairs and opened the heavy iron door and my wolf up and ran off. Probably joined a circus. Left a white circle behind as the only memento. What a jerk. :(

 

I beat the dude with the serious case of MPD and went to look for my wolf. I thought maybe his disappearance was part of the quest. Nope. "You must gather your party before venturing forth." OK. Reload my save from after crazypants' encounter and the wolf didn't reappear. 

 

I reloaded my save from immediately before and wolf-bro is there. Yay! I opened the iron door back into Maerwald's panic room and my wolf followed me in through the event transition. Yay! 

 

I reloaded the working save again, and purposefully moved my wolf where he'd be stuck on some of the environment when my party opened the heavy iron door to the Maerwald event. BAM. We transitioned and the wolf disappeared. It seems that he needs to be in view of the door to transition properly. The bug only hits some of the time, not every time.

 

Hope the description helps. The files needed to report the issue are too large for the attachment system, so I put that ish in Dropbox.

The save with Act 1, 6 days, 18 hours is post-Maerwald with the wolf gone. The save with Act 1, 6 days, 17 hours is pre-Maerwald with the wolf intact. Hopefully y'all'll be able to reproduce this bug with my saves and description to quash it!

 

Also: GREAT game so far. Thanks for all the work you all put into it!

Wolf companion disappearing and the portrait is blank. Hes not running off, just vanishing.  Save game with him there. Reload game and hes gone. Sometimes hes gone going thru zone change too. Endless path quest.

Yeah I'm having the same problem but my most recent good save is from like 3 hours ago.

yep, same problem. My pet disappeared in that hall where is a hole into blood bath or something. Sad, that I have to replay much

Ranger Wolf Companion Pet,  Endless Path Quest. Its game breaking for me because i cannot even leave the area because : "you have to gather your party ...."

I also have this bug in the first level of Endless paths.   This is a game breaking bug as all of my saves have this issue.  Can we please get a fix for this immediately that doesn't require restarting the game?

same here with my bear companion, hit me when reloading in the 'third area' (where guy's lost his companion to a big bear ...

 

I was only doing a dry run /test so not a biggie in that sense - but seems to be a persistent problem for a fair few ... hope it's patched soon, and will probably have to put the game to one side until I hear it has been.

Based on my experience loading from a save prior to the companion disappearance and proceeding hasn't had any detrimental effects to my progression. Every time a disappearance glitch has hit me I just go back to a previous save and proceed as normal. I do find myself saving a lot more that usual, primarily before and after event/level transitions. It's been a good insurance policy to help me not lose *too* much progress if I need to replay a chunk.

 

All that said, I'd love official word and/or a line in future update release notes letting us know this bug has been patched. ;)

Got the same problem.  It also affected ALL other savegames all at once.  Totally game breaking

Is it possible to force-kill a creature with console commands as you could in the IE games, perhaps?  Maybe killing the companion thusly would help.

Developers wrote in FAQ a workaround:

  • Users have reported having their Ranger animal companions becoming stuck in the scene and invisible after loading saved games.  If you get this to occur, immediately close the client (not just quit to the main menu).  Unfortunately if you save when the issue is occurring, it will persist, so the best option is to load a prior save until a fix is patched.

I just ran across this problem today. Even after saving, the issue for me was fixed if I closed the game and exited out completely and reopened the same save file. My ranger's companion appeared with loading after closing the game and I was able to leave the endless path.

this seems to have gone off the radar - has the issue been fixed, or is it still a question of following one of the approaches detailed above and elsewhere if so afflicted? Not intending to mess further with the game until it gets sorted out. 

I haven't gone through the patch notes with a tooth comb I must admit (on gog, so haven't got the hotfix thingy yet either), so apologies if I'm missing the obvious.

After patch my pet still missing, im not going to play game until some other patch fix this out....still have problem ,and im so mad
