Wouldn't it be great if you could change the character portrait post-character creation? I'm googling and when I found a cool portrait, I can't use it for my current character. 

Yep. +1 to this idea.

Why would you want to? 

Well... Baldurs Gate had it.

You can always just swap the portrait image filenames in your portraits folder.

All the portraits (even the default ones and the ones for NPCs) are externalized.

Because you didn't think to find/make a custom portrait until after you started, or because you found a cool picture that you think fits your character that you've been playing for several hours better than the one you picked before you decided on the character's personality, or...  or...

 

Lots of reasons.  

Someone will make a character editor at some point in time.

In the meantime, just rename the portrait files to change images.

Im actually kind of disappointed in the portrait choices for the Godlikes. I have a nature godlike wizard and the only nature godlike portrait looks more like a paladin.

My OCD got the better of me so I just recreate my character. But yeah.

As stated before to have a chance to change characters' portrait would be cool. I suppose such information is stored within the save but...
