March 26, 201510 yr Out of curiosity, where do you all have your game installed? C: drive? Internal additional drive? External drive? i have 2 drive's (harddisk's) 1 SSD for small stuff, OS and core programs and drivers(C: drive).. everything else, including steam and all its games, is on my main storage harddisk (D: drive) aka internal additional drive (normal disk drive) Edited March 27, 201510 yr by Raniets
March 26, 201510 yr Try turning off v-sync in the options. I had the same issue and I haven't had it since. Disabling v-sync doesn't seem to make a lot of difference anyway.
March 26, 201510 yr I've got a single, partitioned HD and my Steam directory and all games are on the second partition (D:).
March 26, 201510 yr Attached my auto save when I first entered the encampment and the manual after running around a little. I have the worst lag when chosing my portrait (10+ seconds. A little less when chosing voice clips. Opening the inventory for MY character causes a 5+ second hang, as does equipping/unequipping anything. Dialogue will take around the same amount of time to start playing (including the random clips when selecting/moving party members) and for the longer conversation dialogues, it'll cut off the first few words when it finally starts playing. No problems with anything else (haven't played long enough to level up). Win 7 64 bit 13 GB ram AMD Phenom II X4 965 processor AMD Radeon R9 200 Series graphics card output_log.txt EternitySaves.zip
March 26, 201510 yr No such issue, Win 8.1 on board. That may be the root cause of issue... Could very well be that Win 8 isn't affected. I have absolutely no problems, the game runs as silk after 5 hours of play time. Win 8.1 x64, 8 GB Ram, Intel i7 920 @ 3.1 ghz, GTX 770 4GB @ 347.71. Game is installed on a normal 7200rpm hard drive.
March 26, 201510 yr Moving the install folder to a SSD didn't do anything, it sped up the freeze a bit but nothing more than that.
March 26, 201510 yr I don't have the symptoms Merina is describing, the common issue appears to be: 1. hangs for ~20-30s when switching to portrait select in the character creator 2. character VO (select/attack/choosing which voice etc) seem to be delayed by ~7s from triggering // Some issue with dialogue menu VO but things such as the opening chapter narration are fine, combat and movement noise is fine, menu noises seem fine etc 3. When going into the player character's inventory screen it is noticably slowed, taking 5-10s for the screen to pop up and any action involving the character model changing results in even more stalling/hanging Internal HDD, steam, no partitions afaik, I'm bad with computers. :'(
March 27, 201510 yr Try turning off v-sync in the options. I had the same issue and I haven't had it since. Disabling v-sync doesn't seem to make a lot of difference anyway. did not work for me
March 27, 201510 yr Same as Nemeter, normal C: drive steamapps folder installation. I've got an external, but Eternity doesn't touch it.
March 27, 201510 yr Just posting to say I have the exact same problem. Tired a full reinstall, reboot, deleting all the portrait pictures, different races, classes, sex. Win7 64bit i5-4670 3.40GHz 8gig RAM GTX 770 The output log is me creating a new character, changing the portrait picture (slowly) a couple times, then loading into the game and opening my inventory (again, slowly) a few times. Just quoting myself to make sure the logs are seen if needed.
March 27, 201510 yr i can also add that the freeze happen when you try to change equipment on your character
March 27, 201510 yr Yes, and I just perceived that the issues extends to the fixed companions as well. The issues didnt happened with calisca and the other dude but persists with Aloth at least. Edited March 27, 201510 yr by TLPS
March 27, 201510 yr Having the same issue; very frustrating: Windows 7 x64 Core i7-2600K GeForce GTX 680 (driver version 347.88) 16GB RAM Installed the game to a secondary, normal mechanical hard drive.
March 27, 201510 yr Having the same issue. Windows 7 64-bit Intel Core i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40 GHz 8 GB RAM GTX 560 Ti
March 27, 201510 yr I have the same problem I can't even get through character creation. It takes like 30 seconds per portrait and there's a bunch of portraits...if I want to go back to the first one I saw double that time. win 7 64 bit i7 2600k 8gb gskill 7950 3gb
March 27, 201510 yr Same issues (voice delay, avatar delay, inventory equip delay).Windows 7 64-bit i7-4700MQ GTX 765M 8GB DDR3 RAMInstalled in a 1TB SSHD.
March 27, 201510 yr I'm having the same freezing / hang on loading pictures and voices as everyone else. Information attached. (I'm not permitted to upload my save file on the forums). The game is installed on my D: drive. DxDiag.txt output_log.txt
March 27, 201510 yr same problem here, with an AMD 6900 HD. dxdiag and output log attached. i had the same issue in the backer beta but it was seemingly getting better with patches, so i didn't raise too much of a fuss. tried installation on both a normal HD in a raid 0 config and on my primary OS/steam drive SSD, which is the current setup. DxDiag.txt output_log.txt
March 27, 201510 yr Same problem here. Game is on my 2nd HD, one without the OS. Not unplayable, but certainly not ideal. I5 2500k Nvidia 970 8 gig RAM Windows 7 64 bit Steam download. Edited March 27, 201510 yr by Scrappy
March 27, 201510 yr Having similar problems, unfortunately. Major slowdown when accessing inventory and changing or moving items. Voice clips take a good 3 seconds or so to start. Portrait selection on the chargen screen can freeze the game for about 20 seconds. Windows 7 64-bit Intel Core i7-2600 ATI Radeon HD 5700 (driver version 8.961.0.0) 16 GB RAM GOG version, installed to C: drive. Output log is from opening the game, quickly clicking through chargen to tab through some portraits, then returning to the main menu and loading an old save to fiddle around with the inventory. Major slowdown was experienced in both. http://pastebin.com/1nQG5wZS
March 27, 201510 yr Hey everyone, I know this may not help terribly much, but I was having the exact same problem as you all and my game suddenly fixed itself. I don't know what I did or how I did it, all I can say is the game "snapped to" on a second playthrough as I recruited Aloth in Gilded Vale. After that, the SFX began to work properly and the delays on portrait selection and inventory disappeared. Even the load times between areas got shorter. Again, no idea how this happened, but there must be something I did or had happen in-game to resolve this issue.
