[435] Calculation for Extra Potion Duration is Multiplicative, not Additive

Featured Replies

In the image below (which is not mine) - that character has 20 Intellect and 9 in Survival. The potion duration is altered to 652.5 seconds from 300.

((base 300 sec)*1.5)*1.45 = 652.50 sec duration

This is using multiplicative multipliers instead of additive. It should be 300 * [1+0.5+0.45] = 585 seconds

I think in game after consummation, the time shown when hovering next to the character portrait (and in the character screen info too) is taking into consideration only Survival skill, so it's something like this
300 * [1 + 0.45] = 435 seconds

The same for potions.

If it should work additive with Intellect (which would be great), the bug is probably in both places - in the description and in the duration itself, as well.

Also, some of the potions don't show altered time for the character in the description at all (just the base time).

If it should work additive with Intellect (which would be great),

Thematically why would a high intellect make your food last longer?

I don't know. Maybe because you can willingly influence your metabolism?

Why would it make abilities last longer...

Who cares. Gamist mechanics. They're deliberately like that.

Because an idiot would miss their mouth and get half on their face and clothes. They would fail to chew the remaining half properly, and thus expend more energy digesting. They might even get indigestion or throw some of it back up.

Bumping for BB480.

- Many food consumables and Potions show on the description windows prolonged time of duration, multiplicatively estimated from Intellect & Survival modifiers.

- Drugs usually display only base unmodified range in items' descriptions.

- All these three groups of consumables probably actually use only Survival modifier when the item is consumed.

[How to reproduce]

For example

1. Take BB Priest (Int 18 -> +40% duration, Survival 2 -> +10% duration)

2. Take a look at the description of Ixamitl Ricepan. There will be 231 sec duration (base 150 sec) as estimated by multiplicative combination of both modifiers.

3. Consume the food and observe in the tooltip or on character sheet that the real time used in game will be 165 sec (+10% from survival skill).

[Expected behavior]

The descriptions should reflect the real behavior of items. In all instances, either use additive estimation from both modifiers or only from Survival skill, if that's intended.
