Character creation won't end. The done button is grayed out, preventing me from finishing and starting the game.

Create a character with the following specifications:

 

 

Note that the "done" button is grayed out and uninteractive.

I had it once in the last patch, but could not reproduce it.

It may just be solvable with a Steam cache verify - I haven't bothered to do it yet because the new version of XCOM Long War and immediately devoured my gaming time (and more besides). xD

Had the same problem with a Divine character, ranger class. Everything I did to change character parameters didnt work. "Done" button still greyed out.

 

It may be caused by not completing the character in order, I modified most aspects to test the changes before completing the character.

After a second try, creating another character in order and without touching any aspects after the first selection did the job.

 

Moreover, portrait selection is terribly slow, I have to wait about 10 seconds to change the selected portrait...

You forgot to pick the type of Aumaua you are actually.  Like are you a coastal, etc etc.  That's why it is happening.  Back in the beginning I showed how you could create a character and not do half the steps thus this change was put in to prevent you from finishing creation without doing all the steps.
