Yes, that's very scary. So is that feeling of falling, like you had just tripped over something and your brain is screaming 'must perform corrective action', but you can't because you are asleep. Actually it's just like that thing in inception, except it doesn't work. You don't wake up.

I think the whole point of lucid dreaming is that you are empowered, not trapped. You're talking about 'nachtshrecken'. :p

While it doesn't really have anything to do with lucid dreaming, I've had a rare but irritating problem lately thats called hypnic jerk. Hey! Get your head outta the gutter! :) Basically, just as I'm drifting off to sleep its like I'm startled awake violently. Its rare, maybe once every 1-2 months but they are extremely annoying. They usually happen multiple times in one night.

While it doesn't really have anything to do with lucid dreaming, I've had a rare but irritating problem lately thats called hypnic jerk. Hey! I have that same issue every night. Except I'm startled awake violently by my children fussing in the middle of the night.
