Unplayable - Windows 7 x64

Game is completely unplayable in Windows 7 x64.

 

I've successfully activated it, but I'm getting 2 errors

I've tried running as administrator, disabling my AV and XP SP3 compatibility mode. I've also installed all of the latest C++ redistributables (2005 sp1, 2008 sp1 and 2010).

maybe new drivers for your videocard? I did a fresh install of windows 7 64 bit and all drivers and it works great on my pc

The culprit is definitely physx. The driver bundled with FW 257.15 doesn't work (9.10.0222). I've not tried the current standalone version (9.10.0129 - released 25 March 2010). The version on the CD is pretty old - 9.09.0814 (August 2009!), so you may have problems with newer games if you install it (keep it in the back of your mind if other games are suddenly unplayable).

 

To uninstall physx:

 

Control Panel>uninstall a program>Nvidia Physx

 

Install Physx from the CD (cd drive>support>physx)

 

Only uninstall Physx - don't uninstall Nvidia drivers (they're your graphics card drivers).

I use Win 7 x64, it runs fine. I did not reinstall PhysX or the graphics driver after installing the game.

 

I of course have the other problems as described in other threads like the stutternad mouse issues. But I managed to play the game through last weekend, no crashes at all. Also I did not apply any compability tweaks except starting as admin once for a test of config files.

That is why I play it with my xbox 360 controller, no mouse problems anymore!!

If you've got an Nvidia card, Physx is automatically installed with your graphics driver. The version of Physx bundled with the 257.15 drivers is not compatible with Alpha Protocol. If you're using an older driver, it should be fine.

 

BTW, please ignore my instructions for removing Physx - you'll have to install an older graphics driver, or the Nvidia control panel won't work properly.
