November 7, 200916 yr Link Although if you make any money of the game you'll have to pay a fee, but the point is the whole engine is available to anyone. IMO, I'm just shocked because UE3 is pretty freaking awesome and this could mean some very good indie games. Thoughts? Edited November 7, 200916 yr by WILL THE ALMIGHTY "Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"
November 7, 200916 yr Yeah this is great news and hopefully it'll bring a lot of positive attention to Epic.. I do think it's rather common already to release engines to the public, especially when you have (or are going to) build a new one. Fortune favors the bald.
November 7, 200916 yr We still dont get source code and the documentation isnt very elaborate, which makes it very difficult to make something non-fps out of it. We tried making a top-down tactical thingie game with it and we had to do some very odd stuff to make it do what we wanted. Like making an intentionally broken texture to make certain things invisible, because we couldnt just tell the engine to stop rendering it like we should have been able to. November 7, 200916 yr Can't wait for more glistening character models. It will be interesting to see all the awesome indie games, though.
November 8, 200916 yr Good. I can't wait for the total conversion of Unreal 1 with the new engine. November 8, 200916 yr Cool beans. I think the U3 engine is sufficiently advanced to be an option for a long time. Na na na na na na ... greg358 from Darksouls 3 PVP is a CHEATER. That is all.
November 8, 200916 yr Cool stuff, downloaded it a few days ago already. Haven't installed it though. I think I'll spend my time more with the Dragon Age toolset. Rain makes everything better.

Well if you don't have the source, it's really not worth bothering with. Nice effort from the sounds of it. p.s. UE 3.0 takes a while to compile from what I hear. I came up with Crate 3.0 technology. Crate 4.0 - we shall just have to wait and see.Down and out on the Solomani RimNow the Spinward Marches don't look so GRIM!
