For those who don't know, Puzzle Quest is a strange combination of a puzzle game with RPG elements that works surprisingly well. Galactrix does away with the fantasy setting and puts it squarely in scifi territory, all while making some gameplay additions.

I think I logged in at 60 hours for Puzzle Quest previously, so this is on my wish list definitely.

This game is incredibly glitchy. I also don't see why anyone would pay for something that is essentially a souped up flash game, opinions I guess.

Uh, the link is just a little flash game demo. The actual product is quite a bit different. It's still a puzzle game though, so I guess if that isn't your bag, this isn't for you.

I realize that. My comment was about how the fun from puzzlequest games always seemed to me that they were bigger and better flash games, which doesn't make sense to me.

Essentially it seems to run counter to what I see as the charm of flash games, that they're not trying to be more than just a few minutes to an hour of harmless fun. It is mostly a perception/opinion issue as I remarked upon before.

If your remark is about the glitchiness not necesarily being in the final game, then I realize that, and was merely remarking about how poor the flash demo was.

Actually, a few minutes of harmless fun is exactly what I'm looking for in my Nintendo DS games. I just can't stare at that little screen for very long. I need games that can be completed in a 5 to 10 minute bathroom session. But puzzle games are a fairly unique genre, they are simple and open to a pretty wide audience, and they can be played in a lot of different ways.

Tetris is kind of the ultimate example. Sure, you can play it as a flash game, or a cell phone game, or in a thousand other formats. But surprisingly people are still willing to plop down some money for it. Puzzle Quest is basically Tetris with an RPG storyline.

The original Puzzle Quest has a crapload of content. Lengthy main quest, lots of sidequests, some special puzzle minigames. Different classes with different spells, skills you can learn from mounts or captured enemies. The RPG elements really add a whole lot to what basically amounts to a game of Bejewelled.

And it's all paced in such a way that a session can take only 5-15 min if that's what you want, which works great for portable gaming.

Essentially, you have no idea what you're talking about.

Damn, I'm stuck at this stupid two headed Ogre in PQ (Wii). I think my druid needs one or two more levels, and I need more luck. Each time about 18 damage from three skulls? :x

Dugog doesn't have a level cap IIRC, so he'll always be higher level than you. Though it would be insane to go against the guy without at least a level 15 character. I usually do it on level 17-18.

Can't remember what abilities Druids had, but at least Forest Fire spam and constant selfhealing(since it's the Druids' unique ability) works. And maximizing the damage you do with every skull. This means getting Eric's Bow(from the Ogre Brothers quest IIRC) since it does the largest amount of damage for every class, until you cap your yellow or green mana and kill everything with Un/Holy Lance, and any items that increase damage. You'll have to either kill Dugog before he does his ultimate move, Double Roar, or luck it out. I've honestly only survived that move a couple of times(of all the odd 30 attempts in that fight). Mages have the fight easy, since both Mana Drain and Flaming Skulls are game winners, same with Warriors and their Throw Axe, but Druids and Paladins have to struggle a bit.

Of course, it helps when you balance the fight on both getting every skull combination on the board and denying the enemy all the mana tyoes he needs. Sounds complicated, but with that attitude the bosses are easier.

Hang in there, Dugog is the second hardest bastard in the game.
