SirPetrakus Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I was reading the old posts Feargus made the other day and he said something about the next major franchise he wanted OE to approach to be Warhammer 40k. To do that he would have to contact THQ who currently owns the license for any Warhammer 40k games. At about the same time THQ confirmed the creation of an RPG based on the Warhammer 40k setting, just didn't make it clear whether it's a MMO RPG or a different type of RPG. However, Vigil Games, which was bought by THQ, is currently developing a MMO RPG on the franchise. So with Age of Reckoning and the new MMO, has Obsidian given up on the idea? Had any approach to THQ been made in the first place? Did the talks just fall through? Are you guys just waiting for the right time to make a statement? Anybody know something about it?

Walsingham Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 I for one might actually buy an MMO if it was made by Obsidian. Particularly if it was 40k. However, I'm still of teh opinion that doing a proper job requires active referee involvement to coach good players and reward things like top roleplaying. "It wasn't lies. SirPetrakus Posted August 18, 2008 Author Posted August 18, 2008 THQ announced that Vigil Games, recently acquired by THQ, will be making an MMORPG based on Warhammer 40.000. I am sorry to crash your hopes on a Obsidian MMO WH40k like that
mrmud Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Honestly though. An MMO is a very big undertaking and risky, in particular for a studio that already have several titles in production. Im glad they arent making an MMO because that means they can make more singleplayer PC RPGs for me to enjoy.

Although my opinon of THQ in general is poor, based on a single interacton with their customer services. "It wasn't lies.
