Darque Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 How did having a "vault zero" clash with the previous canon?
Drakron Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 The Vault project was simply several tests for the enclave, the vaults were not intended to work as advertised. Take Vault 13 that was simply to contain test subjects for the enclave bioweapon (that was to kill all mutants and that also meant humans that were radiated) and the water chip was in fact a accident, other vaults however had created accidents that served as tests (some had a all male population, others open too soon, etc ...). So Vault 0 could only served a enclave control center for the vaults (however it does not make sense since the enclave simply taken over it when they come out of the oil rig vault) but the war was started by the enclave and vault 0 was unfinished, as a enclave diversion Vault 0 could work except it was simply too funtional to my taste, I suspect the developers of tactics simply ignored the Enclave role in the Vault project as stated in FO2. However, the biggest issue people taken was the Brotherhood of Steel but Tactic did stated that the Brotherhood changed since they cut from their bases and so there was a diference of then and the original Brotherhood.
Darque Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 Unless there are pieces missing. Maybe V0 was created but abandoned by the Enclave? Maybe V0 was a part of their plan all along, to monitor the experiement? Loose ends allow for different interpretations However, the biggest issue people taken was the Brotherhood of Steel but Tactic did stated that the Brotherhood changed since they cut from their bases and so there was a diference of then and the original Brotherhood. Exactly, this BoS was a group of original BoS disidents, and were ejected. They were Brotherhood pretty much only in name.
Drakron Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 What? No... no... no ... In Tactics the BoS sends a team across the mountains using blimps to search for technology and after a storm they crash and are forced to be "hire-cops" to survive. The original Brotherhood are all decendents of a weapon research facility team, there are no disidents as in Fallout they take the very first member outside (most because they never belived s/he would survive) and in tactics they start to take outside people out of need. Also Vault 0 feels to be a separate storyline from FO2, as Tactics says Vault 0 was completed and so never used by the enclave.
Darque Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 no...no..no... Sorry but no There was a schism, and they were cast out. go watch the opening movie again
Darque Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 The original Brotherhood are all decendents of a weapon research facility team Bzzzt. Wrong again The original Brotherhood are decendents of the experimentees, who were all military They were all test subjects for that virus that created the master and the Supermutants Go read the in game datapads
Antagonist Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 The BoS were formed from the renmants of the military forces after they rebeled against their superiors because of the inhuman experiments performed at the military base. Luckily for them the world got hit pretty bad by nukes and so they experienced no retribution by the government.. They were led by some General (?) Maxon to another buncer (their later main operation base), whose descendant is the High Elder during the Fallout 1 period.
Iolo Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 Are you sure it's not VB? Fairly certain. It would just make too much sense financially for it to be Van Buren. Hence it's not. Remember who we are talking about here.

Remember who we are talking about here. Who are we talking about? A company who had an eviction notice handed to it this week and so can't hide the fact they're in deep $#!% anymore If VB is a money maker, that's their only hope.

It should be Exhalted next. Thats not a debt. Thats pocket change I have to agree with Volourn. Bioware is pretty much dead now. Deals like this kills development studios. 478327[/snapback]

Judge Hades Posted April 17, 2004 Posted April 17, 2004 Its true so why worry about it? I think it is best to concentrate on games that are in the living.

mkreku Posted April 17, 2004 Posted April 17, 2004 I noticed they mentioned Van Buren in this article so I figured I should post it here. Perhaps someone finds something of interest in it. I thought it was a good read. Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!
bishiraver Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 Very interesting, though it makes me miss it even more. Sigh
