I usually had something like the following IWD:

Human Paladin

Human Thief

Human Druid

Human Specialist Mage (Necromancer)

Human Bard

Sometimes Human Ranger, Sometimes Human Cleric for the last slot

Yes, I am a racist, I prefer humans in my party :shifty:

In IWD2 I tried some more "adventurous" themed parties, like Gorths Crusaders made up of Paladins and Clerics or The Treehuggers made up of Druids and Rangers. Never completed the game with any of those though. The shortest career was probably the Arcane Research team made up of 6 mages :shifty:

Still, good fun though.

Most of my characters are demi-humans with a human or two thrown in. this way I can mult-class them to be more useful besides knowing one "trade".

Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.

For those of you who prefer NPCs a-la BG2("walking, talking, living, loving puppet, and I love you" - no, seriously, with banters, interjections, romances and other stuff), Icewind Dale NPCs project is in development at Pocket Plane Group, another Infinity Engine modding community. So, if you are willing to wait for a few weeks, I recommend you to do so.

Aaand Icewind Dale NPCs mod is now available: http://www.pocketplane.net/iwdnpc

With CamDawg's permission, I used some of the code from his IWD Tweaks, and IWD NPC, IWD Tweaks and IWD Unfinished Business are fully compatible.

Time to replay Icewind Dale?

P.S. I *would* like to know if any of the original Icewind Dale developers plays or enjoys it, but... probably not? Still, I hope you will like it. And thank you for creating a great game!

Hey, nice!

I quite liked the BG1NPC pack, so I'll definitely give this one a go.

I, too, love IWD (and the sequel). I'll wait for the NPC expansion to be released and do IWD/HoW & TotL as a refreshing blast from the past.

My first (good-aligned) party was:

Paladin (leader / charismatic spokesman)

Dwarf Fighter (Tank)

Elf Fighter / Thief (Archer)

Half Elf Cleric

Human Bard (Archer / Item identifier / Backup spellcaster... you've gotta have a bard, right?)

Elf Wizard

Pretty vanilla, but it was fun.

My wacky, equally fun evil party was:

Chaotic evil Bard

Lawful Evil Fighter dual-classed to cleric at level 3

Neutral Evil Thief / Mage

Chaotic Evil Human Fighter (two-handed weapons)

Chaotic Evil Gnome Thief

If I were going for a party with only four members I agree with whoever said four single-class characters. Ironically, yes it is easier with four characters. They level faster, you still get the same loot to spend on kit and it's easier to plan combat in those tight dungeon areas.
