Will there be a secret crate level?

Featured Replies

While I am deeply disconcerted to find that somebody has beaten me to asking the question of "will there be crates", I may find some solace in the fact that they missed the real biggie: WILL THERE BE A SECRET CRATE LEVEL?

I, and many others, were disappointed in the unsmashability of KOTOR 2's crates. Promises were made but not kept.

I hope that this time the developers include the much whispered about Secret Crate level, in all of its crate smashing goodness!

FOR IF YOU DON'T MY WRATH SHALL BE SWIFT AND MERCILESS AS THE CRATES OF HALF-LIFE, GOD OF CRATES!

P.S.: I was supremely pleased with the explodability of IWD2's barrels, in a engine where barrels and crates were downtrodden. But that was Black Isle! I am yet to see any tangible proof of Obsidian's embrace of the Holy Containers!

Actually, in all (well, mostly) seriousness, I think it'd be funny to have one of those 'secret' levels where the developers/artists etc. names and/or photos were displayed in a non-playable level - ie, they're roaming the halls as named monsters or soilders, or something. Like in Might & Magic, you had to find an item, and using it in the right place/way would take you there.

Maybe they could pop out of smashable crates. >_<

Still gaming with my 9900k/2080ti/32 ram. One day I suppose a game may inspire me to finally upgrade. Maybe.

The modron level of PS:T was one of the best secret levels I've seen. Self-contained, didn't matter if you skipped it, but if you didn't skip it, it was an awesome romp - with something to bring along long after you've left it.

Not to mention that modrons are cube-like and hence awesome.

Agreed. i really liked that level, although I resented doing it at the time.

After the secret rat-shooting levels in Theme Hospital, there can never again be secret levels. It would just be wrong.

secret rats that are in league with the Evil French Canadian Ninjas....................yes those secret rats.

So this makes Theme Hospital a secret RPG?

yes Theme Hosptials is a Secret RPG with evil secret rats and evil secrets monkeys that are aligned with my Rivals.

A lesser known easter egg of BG2:ToB is found when you pause at just the right time (after area loads but before the script locks out the interface) while entering the realm of the Spirit Warrior in Watcher's Keep. While paused, view the area's overhead map and you'll be treated to a photograph of ToB's development team.

Holy Jingus. Is that Durlag himself, bottom right?

THREAD HIJACKERS!

So i gave my sister a 21st present today. It was in a box. I know it's not a crate, but it's a close relative. I would settle for boxes in the game, but I would like crates to be present as well!

I think if you collect 27 boxes in the game, they'll combine and turn into a crate and out will pop... well, who knows?

I had a dream about a secret crate level in the Aliens RPG.

Except it looked like Dungeon Siege. I miss Dungeon Siege. It had good crates.

Oooookay. I think we've established the line on crates now.
