Maybe, like the original KotOR, there would be different sized characters; the ability to traverse some vents would be prohibited to some (larger) classes.

I would sympathise with your frustration with Far Cry. However I would actually say it had SUPERB level design. I'd far rather have to think my way around a map and bad guys than be canalled into button mashing.

 

Having said that I can't beat that damn second to last level. It's freaking crazy.

I can't beat the helicopter the second time. Now that is crazy.

Except there's really not. The character's done interact with the level design, however good you think the level design may be. Once they see you, that's it, they know where you are for good and can see you from a mile away. Which ultimately degenerates every encounter into either trying to snipe everyone from as far away as possible, trying to shoot everyone from inside a bush, or trying to shoot everyone as they turn around a corner.

Do they? I'm not sure they do. I'm sure I've managed to throw people off by running away and crouching behind a rock and so forth. Unless I just imagined it. What a wonderful thing an imagination is.

Thats not true, you can sneak and avoid detection if you stand still in the night maps, sneaking doesen't work as well as it could though. Even as bugged as it is , the spatial freedom is enormously relieving.

I agree. There's nothing quite like being able to take the initiative and schlep up to the top a large hill and properly recce the ground with binoculars. Or laugh gaily as you circumvent an entire island in a speedboat.
