I'm just curious as how people prefer comic book story telling in games, and even if they like it at all... So let me know what you think, personally I'm a big fan of the max payne style of delivery, its simple and effective.

(If you can think of any other games not listed let me know, or games I may have gotten wrong )

Of course, I have to vote for GK1, as I've never played the others. But it was very well done, in an era when huge cinematic cut-scenes were not a viable alternative given the power of most computers.

What is "comic book story delivery"?

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

Where the images for the story are delivered via a static screen, usually with spoken dialogue. Ala max Payne, and freedom force.

So why is this "comic book style" when comic books are image and text, not image and sound?

because the sound takes place of the text.

I liked max paynes but I think that XIII is an example of what not to do.

erm.... How do I mod the poll, I can't find any options, GAWD I feel dumb...

You can't. But I can. And I have. And I added six votes for Freedom Force (and three each to the "Yes" and "Indifferent" first categories). Because I can.

Eh...maybe its just me but that makes no sense. But I'm probably just a crazy loon and I really shouldn't derail the thread because of it... :ermm:

Basically it's a style of narration.

It's still images, layed out like a comic book, and the audio is very much akin to a radio drama. It's very much like having the comic read by a bunch of actors.

has that helped?

(Also, thanks Meta)
