Rhomal
We had a great interview with Robinson Workshop co-founder Baron. We discuss their up coming tilesets for NWN 2, their thoughts on the custom content community and what lies in their future. Here is a snip: Q:You are currently working on some very impressive tile sets from the screen captures you released. What made you choose these specific tile sets as your first priority? A:Thanks for the kind words. Our choice was made back before nwn2 was even released. We started on Deep Halls for nwn1 (then it was called dwarven halls), but kinda lost interest and decided we would wait to do it for nwn2. Deep Chasms was inspired simply because of the lack of pit tiles in the cave tileset. Once we solved a few technical issues we became able to provide pit tiles not only to the caveset, but have also added them to the Deep Halls set. Sewers is a natural choice, I'm a huge fan of city based adventures and sewers just seem a natural source of adventure in that environment. --- You can read the entire article here: http://www.nwn2worlds.net/Articles/Communi...74/Default.aspx Our many thanks to RW for taking the time to talk to us. We look forward to testing out their releases once completed. Rhomal
Cool. Glad you liked it, perhaps this outfit will actually put out what they advertise unlike DLA. From the impression I got this certainly does seem to be the case. Yay for us! Volourn
"Glad you liked it, perhaps this outfit will actually put out what they advertise unlike DLA." Things changed, and DLA has done a lot. A lot more than either of us that's for sure. Just because they don't release things on YOUR schedule, or things don't go exactly as they intially planned doesn't mean they didn't do anuthing.I think they must have beat up your family as you seem to hate them with a passion. R00fles! Anyways, this outfit's interview is cool. Hoepfully, they do soemthing as user made stuff for NWN2 has not been impressive thus far. I tried one of the so called greta ,modules, and quite after 10 minutes 'cause of agrbage. And, found one PW that might have potential in the future. Still have to try out the POR Remake though. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.

R00fles! Things didn't change, DLA choose to go the money making route. Which before the 'they have a right to do' people jump all over me, I as a whole have no issue with their involvement with the DD module project or selling themselves out on the corner for $5. for all I care. I take issue with them advertising and claiming all this community altruism for YEARS and producing a small fraction with the excuse 'opps we JUST discovered after 4 yrs the nwn1 engine cant hand a 8 party module... btw we hadnt been working on it either for 18+ months because of the work with bioware... our bad for not saying so and leading you on!' And V, they have not done ANY community altruism (intentionally) for years. So saying they have done 'a lot' is not quite accurate. 'a lot' from making things? Sure. 'a lot' as giving to the community? Not quite. If this was 2002-2004 and they released the 3Dmax plugin, sewer and their handful of monsters they put out then sure, I'd agree. However they have not for the last several years of nwn1 life. I am not sure why of all people you are trying to sugar coat this. I'd have ZERO problem with Robert if he would have produced or released something close to what they strung the community along on for years then did the DD thing. Even if they were HONEST and UPFRONT from the start when they dropped all free content for commercial, then again I'd have zero issue with Robert. However he choose to use the NDA as a excuse 'I couldn't say anything... sorry' as his excuse. Knowing if he did say 'we are dropping our DLA-1 and related CC for a undisclosed project, cant say any more' most people would have lost interest in DLA by the time the DD were released. So he strung everyone along bordering (at best) on deception IMO to keep interest and visibility high on DLA. When people stop coming to your site and you become irrelevant in a community by going 'dark' for 18 months it does not work in your favor when you try to sign a contract with other license owners/developers. Which in the end this mess was at the expense of the community long term in my view. > Anyways, this outfit's interview is cool. Well I think many in the CC field are having a issue making certain things awaiting plugins from OEI. Hopefully this gets corrected soon for all the CC and PW peeps out there. I have a feeling RW is the real deal. As I said before I get a good feeling about them and the fact they are no so large to move at the pace of molasses in winter uphill as we have seen other groups. I think bodes well for them and us as a community. Certainly, time will tell. I personally cant wait to check out the deep halls!
