concerning the charactars personal crystal he finds on dantooine .....

i know that the type is determined by current alignment of the player i.e dark side dude gets dark side crystal.... but how do u increase ur chances of getting a more intensely glowing crystal? or is it random

thnx in advance

try talking to kreia once in a while. ask her about the crystal, and sometimes she will say that it's not properly tuned to you, and then you remove it from your lightsaber and talk to her about the crystal again, and she will "tune" it for you. after this it will be a little brighter.

This can be done many times, but I dont know what stimuli is required for Kreia to decide to tune it...

The upgrades have nothing to do with alignment, its only on level.

There are 10 possible upgrades for the crystal but getting all of them is very hard unless you do Dantooine first and talk to Kreia after every level up.

Alignment only affects the color of the "glow"

Alignment does affect the crystal, a great deal actually. A black crystal deals Dark Side damage and Knockdown effects, a gray crystal has Force Resistance properties, and all variations improve different attributes and have Alignment Restrictions.

But I was merely commenting on the upgrades themselves, not what powers get bestowed at each upgrade.

Specifically the question about when the upgrades were available from Kreia and the number of upgrades available.

I made no mention of the powers/abilities/skills the crystal provided.

You can get Kreia to alter (upgrade) the crystal based on alignment switches (different bonusses) or char. level (higher bonusses)...

In terms of number of upgrades that is correct

it "glows" brighter the more times it is upgraded or "glows" darker for Darkside upgrades.

I was just being specific in my answer, not incorporating other possibilities other than a straight same alignment upgrading of the crystal from 1 though 10.

That's not what you said. You said alignment does not affect anything of the crystal but its color, and that is not true, I was just pointing that out.

Perhaps if that was all I wrote you would be correct but you cannot take one sentence out of my post and say I was wrong because of it. In context of the full post what I wrote was correct as I was not dealing with any other variables in my assessment. Which is stated quite clearly in the first sentence.

Hold on just a minute...

The sheer power of the crystal is solely dependent on your character's level. You don't need to have Kreia update it 10 times, since she'll sync the crystal to your current level. Thus, even if you did Dantooine as your last planet, and somehow were L31+, then the first time she syncs it, it will be at its maximum power.

Jinger is quite correct, the power of the crystal is infuenced by your alignment as much as your level, from what I can tell your level dictates the level of power the crystal will have, while alignment dictates what those powers will be. From what I've seen the most powerful crystal is for a neutral Exile, which grants you something like +24 force resistance and +3 attack bonus.

There are nine levels of crystal intensity with increases available at Exile level 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30 & 33

There are five "colors" - very dark, dark, neutral, light, very light - based on the Exile's alignment, and each of them provides different bonuses:

- Very Dark ranges from (+1 Dam, +2 Str, +1 Dex, +1 Cha, +1-4 Massive Criticals) to (+3 Att, +5 Dam, +7 Str, +5 Dex, +6 Cha, +3-30 Mass Crit, Knockdown DC 22)

- Dark: (+1 Dam, +2 Str, +1 dex, +1 Cha) to (+3 Att, +5 Dam, +7 Str, +5 Dex, Knockdown DC 22)

- Neutral: (+1 Att, +1 Dex, +1 Con, +1 Wis) to (+3 Att, +4 Str, +4 Dex, +5 Con, +4 Cha, Force Resist +24)

- Light: (+1 Att, +1 Dam, +1 Str, +1 Dex, +2 Wis) to (+3 Att, +5 Dam, +5 Str, +6 Dex, +7 Wis, 25% Slow DC 22)

- Very Light: (+1 Dam (+1 vs DS), +1 Str, +1 Dex, +2 Wis) to (+3 Att, +5 Dam (+5 vs DS), +5 Str, +6 Dex, +7 Wis, 25% Slow DC 22)

While the Very Dark/Light versions provide abilities above the Dark/Light, whether Very Dark, Very Light, or Neutral is "more powerful" is up for debate.

Whether or not you visit Dantooine early is irrelevant - the only deciding factor in how powerful your crystal ultimately becomes your level - before you confront the last Jedi Master (after that, Kreia will only say "we must go to Dantooine"). In fact, I have found that by going to Dantooine last, you're higher level when you gather the other crystals in the cave and are much more likely to find the high-value crystals. (Enter the random loot.)

Playing the game straight (i.e.: no XP cheats or exploits), I think the best I've done, level-wise, by that point is about 21.

solely dependent on your character's level
No, alignment is a factor too. I have item templates and conditionals for obsolescence right before me.

Once again, incorrect.

A dark, grey, or light crystal has different abilities, but at each particular equivalent level, they offer an equivalent amount of power.

The only thing that can change the power of the crystal itself, is the character level (and Kreia adjusting it). This power will be described by the intensity of the glow in the crystal, and has nothing to do with the alignment.

The only way that someone can say that a particularly aligned crystal is more powerful, is if it fits his character build better, plain and simple.
