taks Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 fortunately, the class i'm teaching is nothing more than classical (i.e. james clerk maxwell) electromagnetics with waveguides, transmission lines, etc. we do get into basic antennae at the end of the book, which covers material effects, but none of the previous teachers/professors covered that far (i'm going to try...). mark comrade taks... just because.
Oerwinde Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Magneto was a weakling. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, it shows that movie magneto was a weakling. They kept saying his power was to manipulate metal. Magneto can control magnetic fields. He doesn't need no stinking metal disc to be able to fly. The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity.
Weiser_Cain Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 I based the shields in my SF setting on powerful magnetic fields. I think it'd be cool if we could figure out how to do this cheap power-wise so we could stick it on future shuttles. with a powerful enough field you'd be as protected from space radiation on a ship as you are on earth. This would also be good for teraforming mars for the similar reason. Yaw devs, Yaw!!! (
