Llyranor
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/europa...reviews;story;0 Never played EU1/2, but Hearts of Iron II: Doomsday has sucked away any sentience I once had or pretended to have. I'm quite looking forward to this game. Coop mode will kick butt. Hmm, looks like there's been a PR boost recently. http://pc.gamezone.com/gzreviews/p28887.htm http://www.firingsquad.com/games/europa_un...is_3_interview/ http://pc.boomtown.net/en_uk/articles/art.view.php?id=12371 http://jaguarusf.blogspot.com/2006/09/euro...ii-preview.html (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)

alanschu
The EU games are a lot more open ended than DD, so that may be something that appeals to you.
Musopticon?
I think I will get this. I've wanted to play an EU game for a long time now. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food. Those who were too weak to survive were sent to Sweden. It has made me the man I am today. alanschu
I'm trying to remember if Finland even exists. Though a neat feature of the game is that apparently you can start at ANY year between the start and the end, with the world being in the correct situation for that year. Tigranes
Hey, hey. I have played EU2, you know. A lot. That was more of a sly comment. I am, of course, not versed in Scandinavian history, but the dynamic starting date makes me suspect that there may be room for, if not Finland, then a regional group based in the area that is independent of Sweden and Russia. Besides, out of that 250, nearly a hundred will probably go to the wider European region. Lare Kikkeli
i don't care how, even if by playing as (yuck) sweden, i will make finland the greatest nation in the world in something else than the number of alcoholists or domestic abuse. Musopticon?
And suicides. We rule. Really, I'd probably settle for Sweduland. It has a rich history and it's in a great position for European dominion. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food. alanschu
If it weren't for the pesky English/French to the west, and the Russians to the East! Conquer Norway, and all will be good! A neat thing about the game is that it's possible to have random events give you core provinces.
Tigranes
Yep. Hopefully that is tied in with their responsive events system; so that if you are progressing well in your assimilation of particular provinces and they are well buffered, such a random event could trigger - though, of course, not consistently. Soon after starting EU2 I had seen fit to make the jump to that big mod, AGCEEP, I think it was called. Kind of scary when you begin as Byzantines with a single province (Thrace), surrounded by and vassalised by the Ottoman Empire. Then the historical event asks you whether to use a fleeing pretender to the Ottoman throne as a catalyst for rebellion. What? It hurts my game-pride to pick "return the pretender and receive money for your subordinate activities". Checkpoint
Regarding Finland it doesn't exist at the start of the game, but at least in EU2 it could form later on. Don't know about EU3, but it should still be a possibility. I have a ton of gripes with EU2, but still played it lots. I do think EU3 sounds very promising and the random monarch generator sounds great, since the historical approach of EU2 hampered replayability and made the game very predictable. On a final note regarding religion: you can choose from Catholicism, Islam, "Eastern," Pagan, and Orthodoxy--the latter becomes Protestantism after a certain activist nails a certain set of theses to the doors of a certain church What's this dude been smoking? ^Yes, that is a good observation, Checkpoint. /God
Tigranes
Yeah, 'em Greeks do believe in Protestanism! What the crapper is "Eastern"? Does that mean the Far East?
