But if one team does poorly, they'll be voting their team off one at a time, numerous times in succession.

If any of you chaps had done something like this I'd give you the benefit of the doubt. But when a major US network does it, I'm afraid my charity mysteriously peters out. I think they did it cynically expecting massive frictions, and ensuing commentary in all media.
