machievelli
What's the idiot dance issue, never heard of it. Can someone quickly explain? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What I call the idiot dance is when the character movement locks up, and all it does is take the position of moving, but at the same time merely spins in place. I had the same problem with it in KOTOR I. I found a way around it with my 'inferior' system. Disable sound until you are in an area where you can maneuver freely. Once you are, save, quit, then reopen the game.

Musopticon?
I had that thing in KotOR 1, when entering the Taris(or whatever the first city was) hideout. I was seriously pisssed since I thought it was unrepairable. Re-install and re-patching fixed it. Thankfully. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. stoicraven
I've also discovered recently that my computer is dying a slow death. It's 4 years old, the hdd is slow, the cd-rom's no longer auto load..........I just want to punch it but alas i'll get something "newer" eventually. Figures that as soon as this thing gets paid off it starts to die..........
Alec
Computers only usually last 2... max 3 years. If they last longer it's cos you never used it. Those kinda hardware problems are normal... after some time they start to decay. If fact I was thinking that this could be some sorta Microsoft trick to make u buy another pc. U don't know how tricky they can get to make u spend more money.

U don't know how tricky they can get to make u spend more money. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, electronic components don't decay noticably over time. A computer can last decades, except for the mechanical storage units (HDD, FDD and optical drives). There's no reason why a 5 year old computer shouldn't function just as well as it did when it was brand new. Most HDD's have a lifespan of a few thousand hours, sometimes as much as 10.000 hours. Meaning with an average use of 3 hours a day, it will last you a bit over 9 years. The only reason computers usually last 2... max 3 years, is because by that time, they normally won't run most common applications and games at an acceptable speed. If you however, chose to still use your old applications, it will be just as good as it was when you bought it. I have an old 386 laying about, that's not currently in use, but it's seen many years of use, and still works just fine. It's basically useless, but it works. thelvinaer
I am having trouble with the "idiot dance" thing as well. I already added the disable vertex thing into my .ini file where it says to, but it is still not working, though it is working slightly better. my system meets the minimum requirements of the game. but is slightly short on a couple of the suggested ones. but I shouldn't have to keep saving, quitting and restarting the game every 30-60 seconds. Zilod
i have same problem on dant (and only dant) i think there is some big bug there and not really a graphical lag problem as it doesn't happen everytime generally it start when i do a certain action (like to speak with a char or enter in a place) and stop when i do some different action (like to speak with another char or resolve a certain mission) as this problem happens when you are looking at a particular point. generally it seem to be located on the hill near khunda (?), i simply "go backward" when i'm heading in that direction... so my advice is... if you have a similar problem try to rotate the camera in the opposite direction and then go backward until you will no longer head toward the point that is probably causing the troubles
thelvinaer
yeah, I have been doing that all through the prologue and throughout paragus. only way I was able to get through several parts. now I am on the harbinger trying to get the drift charts and to get through the fuel line and I can't move like at all. I can't find a place to look at that will allow me to get through there.
Zilod
ouch even aboard the harbringer... mmmm maybe your problem is a bit different than mine... if i remember right the engine have troubles with dual processor (dual core?) systems but there should be a way to go with just 1 proc maybe you can also try to put cpucount=2 and see if it get better, but is just an idea and don't know if it will change anything... maybe try to run a forum search for dual processor/dual core, it could be that your problem is indeed that one and you find some hint to fix it. thelvinaer
I have an AMD Sempron, not a dual core. though I plan on getting one soon. I think the problem is that I have a radeon xpress 200 video card and on the back of the box it says the lowest xpress supported is the 300. just realized that. but all the scans says I have met the minimum requirements. but not the recommended ones. even pass the minimum for video card. so I am not sure.
