Blarghagh
Modest Mouse - Gravity Rides Everything Isaac Brock is an interesting lyricist, and he's come a long way. After all "The universe is shaped exactly like the earth, if you go on straight long enough you end up where you were" is a far cry from the times he was singing about doing the cockroach. EDIT: (was that supposed to be censored or what? ****roach?) Edited June 17, 2006 by TrueNeutral
Baley
I think that's called pretentiousness and pseudo-intellectual wankery. I'd take a man telling me about how fun it is to **** a ****roach over some bull**** one-liner a 5 year old with intense cranial obesity could better word. That said, I've never listened to the band and have little intention to voluntarily do so. Indie Rock is mental retardation, after all. LoneWolf16
I find the above paragraph, taken with the song given below it, to be ironic in a fun sense. ) I had thought that some of nature's journeymen had made men and not made them well, for they imitated humanity so abominably. - Book of Counted Sorrows 'Cause I won't know the man that kills me and I don't know these men I kill but we all wind up on the same side 'cause ain't none of us doin' god's will. - Everlast

Give it a try. Bright Eyes Clicky! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Almost anyone on the planet craving any type of indie-credibility has heard of bright eyes, they're pretty much one of those "untouchable" bands. That still doesn't stop me from calling their fans crybabies and folky goths. Is not that the music isn't heartfelt and truthful its just that its popularity outshines its sensibilities as something that can be regularly related to. Kind of Drama Queen music. thepixiesrock
I've never heard bright eyes, but I have heard plenty of "Indy" music, and to me, a lot of it sounds very similar, and for the most part, a large majority of it I can't listen to. It annoys me I guess. But there is probably some good "indy" out there, and I've just heard all the crap. I don't know if it is so much the music I can't stand, or the whole persona of everyone I know that listens to that music, but I'm pretty sure it's both. Blarghagh
Most indie people actually hate Bright Eyes. Conor Oberst is seen as an enormous whiner of emo proportions (and apparently there's some kind of hateful relationship between emo and indie or something, I dunno, I don't listen to enough emo to make an informed opinion, basically just a bit of Dashboard Confessional). Baley
Since that GWE deleted my clever little post, gonna restate that I didn't call you pretentious, bum. I called that lyricist of yours a pseudo-intellectual **** of the highest caliber. And you've got the wrong verb there. Ain't much of a pretender. Yeah. Something like that. Oh and Indie Rock is still amentia. It's like Emo for old people. I mean you hit 18 and you start playing goddamn Pavement. That's a sure sign of irreversible retardation.
