I don't have any problems with there being romances, may the be hetero or homo, in a CRPG nor any sex scenes resulting in the romance as long as it is done tastefully.  Not sex for sex sakes, but as a representation of deep intimacy in a story driven atmosphere.

If that gives the game a M or an AO rating then so be it.  It won't stop me from purchasing it.

I think romance is a tricky thing to get right in a game, but can be one of the most satisfying story elements when it's well done. The quantity of Kotor fanfic that developed as a response to the Revan/Bastilla and Revan/Carth relationships was impressive. Romance probably needs to be optional in any game rather than part of the main plot, if large numbers of gamers are put off by it.

Sex in games can be fine, but also cringe-inducing. The most recent game I played with sex was Fahrenheit:

the first time with Tiffany was fine and well implemented, but the second time with Carla was horrendous. They have no relationship to warrant her saying 'I love you' in the middle of it, plus isn't he dead at this point?
