ShadowPaladin V1.0 Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 That's silly. Drizzt is who he is because he is a drow. He is who he is because of what he's had to deal with in his life. His experiences growing up has shaped him forever, and that's because of what he had to deal with as a drow. Drizzt is no human. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Far from it. It may have been the case before he became known , but now there is very little drow left. He may still look like a drow, but thats all. Which is what makes him a "funny shaped human". I have to agree with Volourn. Bioware is pretty much dead now. Deals like this kills development studios. 478327
Gabrielle Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 Drizzt is a human paladin caught in drow form.
Volourn Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 (edited) Human paladins don't cry over allowing goblins to be killed. Human paladins wouldn't survive 2 seconds in drow society. Human paladins see things in black and white; Drizzt if you actually read the books definitely doens't. He may be 'good'; but he's most certainly not 'black and white good'. Drizzt is shaped by his heritage, and culture as much as anyone. In fact, he lives in constant fear of being like his fellow drow. Every mistake he makes he worries it's the first step to damnation. Drizzt is a fantastically deep character that gets a lots of bashing mostly because of the backlash due to fanboys copying him verbatim. Sadly, the only thing the fanboys ultimately copy is his stats; not his heart and soul. LONG LIVE DRIZZT! Edited December 13, 2005 by Volourn DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
Gabrielle Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 I hate Drizzt lovers as much as I hate Drizzt.
Volourn Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 Thanks. Add another to my collection of Netters that hate me. Oh how will I surive? Oh, easy. I'll eat food, and drink some liquid. That's how. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
Gabrielle Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 Excellent. Food and water can easily be poisoned.
Judge Hades Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 I hate Drizzt lovers as much as I hate Drizzt. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How can you hate Cattie Brie!!?!?!?!
Gabrielle Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 I hate Drizzt lovers as much as I hate Drizzt. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How can you hate Cattie Brie!!?!?!?! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> She's ok, except she talks like a retarded dwarf.
Judge Hades Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 No, Pikel is the retarded dwarf. DOO-DAD!
Slowtrain Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 This thread has had aboout 17 different topics. Mark me up in the Drizzt-Despiser category, plz! Well, not really, I actually don't care very much, and it is dreadfully humorous to see entire threads on various crpg forums dedicated making the best Drizzt character that one can make. lololo And how upset the posters can get over the entire topic. Let's be honest, Drizzt makes the internet a more interesting place. Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that.
Judge Hades Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 Viconia DeVir rocks! Of course if it wasn't for the Do'Urdens she would have never came to the surface.
Gabrielle Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 Viconia is good. Gromph is another one I like. Even some of the matrons fear and respect him even if he is a male.
Judge Hades Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 His name however reminds me of Sesame Street, though.
Llyranor Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 I guess you guys should stay away from this NWN mod http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=modules.Detail&id=4108 (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
alanschu Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 The reason why Drizzt is interesting is because he's a Drow that defies the stereotype. It doesn't just make him a "funny shaped human" though. There's some truth to what Volourn said. People are fascinated with characters that go against the norm. I can't think of too many memorable characters that perfectly fit into the stereotype ascribed to them.
mkreku Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 Best story I've played FFX (and I've played a lot of them) it just works on so many levels that span both the personal and the epic. Off topic and out of curiosity: when does FFX become good? I've recently started playing it for the first time and so far it's been completely confusing and.. somewhat pointless. I gathered that I am a superstar Blitzball player (think Quidditch, only in water), then the town was blown to bits by Sin. After that there's been short episodes of me diving for some sort of pirates 1000 years into the future (!), me meeting a crappy Blitzball team in another country (!!) and me trying to save some weird priestess in a Temple of Trials. The really weird thing is that I've probably played the game for 2 hours.. of which I've probably had control of my character for 30 minutes while the game has practically played itself (unless you count running from point A to B in narrow corridors as playing). Does it get better or should I move on to something more my style? Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!

Although some people are still confused even after the game ends. :D Final Fantasy games are about the story so I'd give it another 8 hours and then if your still not hooked go play something else. At the moment your not even out of the prologue. I have to agree with Volourn. Bioware is pretty much dead now. Deals like this kills development studios. 478327
Deraldin Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 If you want a cool drow pick Liriel. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Was that Cthulhu carved into the wood there at the top? "
Musopticon? Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 Near enough, that's Kraken cult insignia. And like certain r'lyehian, kraken also lives in a city under the sea. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food. Those who were too weak to survive were sent to Sweden. It has made me the man I am today. A man who craves furry hentai. So let us go and embrace the rustling smells of unseen worlds
