Tel Aviv
Lunar Silver Star Story, FF7, Lunar Eternal Blue, RE 1, and RE 2 were my fav PS1 games. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't care what they say about you. You're an ok guy in my book. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Final Fantasy VIII if you're in the mood for love. Its cheesy, oh you'd better believe its cheesy, but it has some great moments. The train hijacking, the assassination attempt, the epic battle between two flying... universities. It will be fondly remembered in my minds... eye, might replay it soon actually. " <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, that was a good one (even though the game hardly felt like a FF). I still remember that scene were you are running across the battle field during the CG scene... In the background all those people fighting... That was a good one.
Oerwinde
Suikoden 2 if not the best console RPG ever, is at least the best for the PSOne The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity.
Darque
^ I still need that. 1,3 and 4 were easy to get when I went looking for each... but 2 is pretty elusive.

Archmonarch
I came to gaming fairly late in the PS lifecycle, so I havent played the majority of the classics, but Id recommend Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (Arguably best Castlevania ever), the FFs, Chrono Trigger/Cross, the Lunar games, and some others I will invariably think of later. And I find it kind of funny I find it kind of sad The dreams in which I'm dying Are the best I've ever had

And at the time that was a REALLY good deal. It was going for up to 120 bucks US. Yet I managed to get Suikoden 1 for 20 bucks still sealed. Its a really good game. Its long, yet well paced, with good characters and dialogue, and the villain is excellent. The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity. Or you can play the original on the Super Famicon. Sarjahurmaaja.
"Did the original have that much bad grammar and language?" I wouldn't know. I just know that people who translate jRPGs, or, in fact, anything 'j', tend to be really stupid about it. Unless they're well paid professionals. Such as the living (hopefully) god who's responsible for these translations: 9/30 -- NEVER FORGET!
ShadowPaladin V1.0
Sometimes the professionals dont do any better. Remember Dianes three lesbian mothers in Dark Dragon Resurection. Although I think the 4kids One Piece takes the cake. I have to agree with Volourn. Bioware is pretty much dead now. Deals like this kills development studios. 478327[/snapback]
Sarjahurmaaja.
"Sometimes the professionals dont do any better." While I am not nearly as well versed in this subject as you seem to be (that is to say, I just wing it as I go along), I'm fairly confident that whatever lack of quality you have experienced in commercial translations was due to use of "professionals", not professionals. That is to say, professional hacks and amateurs who work for food/the privilege of translating something 'j'. 9/30 -- NEVER FORGET!
Joseph Bulock
I'll second the votes for Final Fantasy Tactics and Ogre Battle, and add Silent Bomber and Bushido Blade to the list. Just be careful with the choices you make in-game. On my current play through, I sorta screwed up, included someone in a battle I wasn't suppose to...
