Musopticon?
I wrote this without looking off the screen even once. I'm rather proud actually. This post has been edited by Musopticon?: Today, 01:05 AM <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And that editing was done entirely without looking at the keyboard. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. Walsingham
Never mind not looking at the keys. I can and do type without even thinking what I'm saying. "It wasn't lies. Gabrielle
But I'm still a fast typist which I learned while being in chatrooms.
metadigital
I resisted learing to touch type for a very long time (until about five years ago, actually): I kept rationalising that I should learn a better key layout (like DVORAK), or that there would be a better interface soon, like voice recognition ... truth is that the keyboard is EVERYWHERE, and it only took a couple of people to show off (pretending not to, of course) by touch-typing to goad me into learing it. (I used to type over 45 wpm with a couple of fingers before that. ) OBSCVRVM PER OBSCVRIVS ET IGNOTVM PER IGNOTIVS OPVS ARTIFICEM PROBAT
Walsingham
I type extremely fast. Or rather, I type as fast as I can think. Which is quite slow, but enough for practical purposes. Arkan
I guess I learned to type the old way...I took a typing class in HS. I guess I can type about as fast as I think, too...or at least close to that. I use my laptop to take notes in my classes so I guess I have to. "Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger." - Herman Goering at the Nuremberg trials "I have also been slowly coming to the realisation that knowledge and happiness are not necessarily coincident, and quite often mutually exclusive" - meta
alanschu
I think you guys downplay how fast you can think
metadigital
Yeah, I can type about as fast as I speak, if I speak as if I am giving a speech to a large audience (and therefore must enunciate clearly). I am also very conscious of spelling and grammar, so I am constantly revising my text and re-writing it to ensure it is concise and cogent. Krookie
I don't think I can type as fast as I speak, but I get close.
Gabrielle
I would imagine people can think faster than they can type or speak, at least I can.
metadigital
Context is everything. There are certain conditions under which thinking slows to the point that words may issue forth faster than the synapses fire ...
