kein mehr Herr netter Kerl

No more Mr. good chap

no more mr nice guy

I knew what these words were; mehr Herr netter I had to go through a langauge translator to get the rest.

no more mr nice guy

I think Gabrielle's version is more fitting. :(

No habla espanol.

Latin es un idioma muerta!  Deben ustedes hablar espanol!

I suppose it's more of an undead language, since it's been officially dead for hundreds of years and yet is still hanging around.

Hablo espanol muy bueno.

Memento mori

Latin: the Zombie that wants to eat your brains ...

The point about latin is it is the basis of all the romantic languages, so it is very useful to know. And vice versa (se what I did there?): my partner, who understands Italian, was able to follow nearly all the dialogue without reading the subtitles in The Passion of the Christ, for example.

I do take the point - the counter-argument would be that a Romance language would be more useful to know, since it's related to the others and a useful language in its own right. Depending on the kind of text, I can do not too bad reading Italian on the strength of my Spanish and French.

Yep, and she can get by just nicely thankyouverymuch in French and Spanish, too. Me, being a unilingual, though, and an anglophile at that; I favour latin. I also would like to try ancient greek, although I am not in a fantastic rush to do so, at the moment.

If I recall correctly Latin is the base langauge of Italian, French and Spanish. Some otheir words share similiar translations and even spelling.

It would be nice to know more langauges than English.

You're forgetting Portuguese and Romanian.

All hail the harsh cold consonants of germanic languages!

Btw even I understood the Latin in Passion and i have never studied it. That is a testament to Latin's presence in scientific terms.

What nationality are you again, Surreptishus? British?

Yes. Why? I also happen to speak British in a British accent.

Just curious. Btw, how do you speak British in a non-British accent though? ^_^

You should hear how I speak then. I am a Iowan who everyone I know says I speak with a British accent with a hinge of German thrown in. When I tell people I was born and raised in Boone they are completely flabberghasted.

I tell them I got it from watching too much Doctor Who when I was a kid. :p

Im one of those peopole who mimic the accent of those they happen to be talking to at the moment. I really cant help it. The worst is when its someone who has a really strong and exotic accent :">

...I speak..  ..hinge of German thrown in.

Now Im hearing Arnolds voice when reading your posts, Hades. :p
