I'm glad I stopped playing it:

...The warden then uses the GetWindowTextA function to read the window text in the titlebar of every window. These are windows that are not in the WoW process, but any program running on your computer. Now a Big Deal...

This is also the reason there are way less gold farmers and bot programs in WoW. I don't really care about the spyware they are using if it protects the game universe. It's not like they are going to screw over millions of customers. As for worries about Blizzard being hit by hackers to take adavantage of this, I'm guessing Blizzard has better tech people than most banks.

It's a principle thing, or at least that's how I see it. You don't break customers privacy.

Doesn't this kind of stuff not work if you're using Windows in user mode, rather than admin mode? I know that Win XP and Win2K are a pain in the butt to use switching between user and admin mode, though.

What bugs me is that hacking around this kind of stuff will happen a few weeks after they put it in, but Blizzard will never take it out even after it's been compromised. So you'll have this slow buildup of progressively invasive, mostly ineffective spyware.

I just re-read the article. I'm not going to try an penetrate the End User Legal Agreement, but I'm pretty sure Blazzard has something in there to cover this. Again, I don't care. Why do you have your financial info. up while you're playing WoW? When I'm on WoW I don't run anything else.

This is their tactic to keep cheaters out. It's worth it to me. It's not like they run the Warden all the time, only when I'm on WoW, so no one knows what porn sites I visit.

I'm gonna go to the grocery store for some World of Bananacraft now, methinks.

What's funny is I'm not fat. In fact, I'm skinny. Though I am as healthy as cna be. Outside of being very ugly, and the common cold once in the blue moon I simply don't get sick."
