Indeed - the addition of the extra African supply centre should be interesting.

But it's nothing too drastic. Subtle changes can be the best. :ermm:

I think that Austria has a much better shot in this game, given that there is more incentive for Italy, Turkey and France to look towards Africa, while Austria also gets an extra buffer zone.

The map makes several balance changes, such as adding a few ocean territories.

Two points:

  1. If you add more supply centres, you need to adjust the winning total;
  2. The map isn't as clear as I would like; some of the abbreviations are illegible (is that DOD off the coasts of Gascony and northern Spain?)

Thanks for the invitation, but:

1. Matriculation exams kill my spirit from achieving anything tactical

2. I'm really not interested of the game in question, although the coterie of the possible players peaks my interest somewhat.

Looks like an interesting game. I would have liked to participate however I don't have the time to do so for at aleast another week. I'm currently visiting family who don't exactly have unlimited internet usage so I have to keep my online time brief.

Beyond this week I have one more week in which to prepare for school and there are a number of things I want to get done before then. Thanks for the invite anyway Ender. Maybe next time around. :ninja:

In the rules listed for this variation 18 is still the total. I think it is because only one supply center is added.

The map could be cleared up a bit. Paint only allows me to put text horizantally, and there are no layers or anything. I may take it into Photoshop and redo all the lettering.

Imageshack is also showing the image compressed a bit. I may attach a larger version to the thread.

Do you like the changes to the map or do you prefer the classic map?

Um, I don't mind the map; I'm game.

Didn't you say there was a neutral SC in North Africa, as well?

I thought the winning total was:

own bases = (all bases/2 +1)

The Africa supply center is the only new one I believe, which raises the total from 35 to 36. And I think a simple majority is required, and for both 35 and 36 supply centers 18 is the majority.

Ah, I see (now that I look at the map again) that you are correct; I was under the erroneous misapprehension that the single Trieste SC was converted into two SCs, Croatia and Zagreb.

What's the point for all of those Eastern provinces?

And if you click on the map in Ender's link, it makes it bigger (at least it did for me).

The eastern provinces help to nerf Russia, so that she cannot move armies around the board in three turns (from Sevastapol to Norway).

I don't suppose there is any method to place a fleet in the Caspian Sea (I just had a weird image of convoying a fleet over an army :D ), so that becomes a Sevastopol from Siberia, accessible via Moscow or Persia, only.

Six players have confirmed for this game and selected a country. I'm waiting for the seventh. Hurry up or miss your spot in the game!

You mean Siberia?

It changes quite a bit by adding it.

It is a new border to have to watch. If Turkey got Sib and Sev, then Moscow is in trouble. Likewise, early Russia could shoot down into Arm and Sib, putting Russia in a position to strongarm Turkey.

Posted

Except that an Army in Siberia is still 3 turns away from being a serious threat to Turkey.

It does make a land invasion of Turkey more plausible however.

I would argue Russia is overpowered on a normal map, and is more balanced on this map. Still, it is up to you as players to decide to use this map or not.

It must be overpowered, as it has greater success in all the posted results. (Most wins are with Russia.)

I'm game for the new map. It opens up Russia's vulnerability to Turkey, and slows down his movements to the north (I totaly agree with splitting St. Petersburg.

I noticed Eldar didn't make it on time to get a spot. He can have mine if he wants it.
