All you really have to do is check you e-mail and write about 2 e-mails a week (bare, bare min).
Darque Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Some time in the future I may, I just don't have the time right now. I've got 3 projects going I "have" to finish. $$$ before funtime.
Cantousent Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 The funny thing about living someplace is that you tend to learn a lot about those areas you go. I haven't been down on the strip for a long time. Like a lot of locals, I don't go there unless it's necessary. For that reason, I'm not going to second guess any cool themes you might have in mind. For all I know, they've changed it. Second of all, Vegas is a high profile city with a conspicuous night life. It's the perfect place for a vampire because the city is often busier at night than in the day. It's got a lot of glitz, but it's got some ugly areas of town also, and there are casinos everywhere. You can have more upscale areas like... umm... The District in Henderson and seedy areas like New Town. New Town is literally like you see in some films. Gun fights, murders, prostitution, etc. I've had the joy of visiting the place while on a ridiculous ride along. (My brother is a seargent in the Las Vegas Metro, and so I finally gave in and went on a ride along.) Anyhow, it gives variety. Finally, the desert is simply beautiful. I hav to admit that it's probably not as beautiful to some poor bastard who's stuck indoors all day, but the mountains and the basin make for wonderful sun rises and sunsets. Ender, I'm really looking forward to playing in a Vegas setting. I've lived all over the place, but Vegas has grown on me over the years. This is going to be soooo cool. ...And I managed to get another player for my local DnD group today. Woo Hoo!!! My PnP experience has taken a turn for the better recently. Darque Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 I understand. I've been there. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You wouldn't want me anyway Given my mood of late, I'd be one of the combat types you'd have to worry about Wow, Vegas, it's been 5+ years since I've lived there.
Baley Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 I think I'd be a fighter type too. Or a stealth type. Yeah,I like that better.
EnderAndrew Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 If you have suggestions for areas of town and how you envision them in the WoD, then send me an email. The Neon Graveyard will likely be one of the last Sabbat hangouts in the city, while the Strip will likely be controlled by Giovanni and Setite interests. The Ventrue will likely have their hands in Freemont street. The Toreadors might have influence over the Cirque de Soliel, and the local art scene as well, such as the Las Vegas Academy. Henderson from what I saw is more of an industrial suburb, while places like Green Valley are rich suburbs. I don't know the city incredibly well. I lived off Desert Inn and Pecos, and I didn't get around the city much. Obviously I've seen all the touristy areas, but the rest of the city not so much. When I get more details hammered out, I will be starting a new thread centralizing all the game info. I will try to put a post together with some basic city info, but I'll wait to hear your suggestions.
EnderAndrew Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Not at the moment. No one has requested to play one, and I get the impression that right now most of the players haven't played WoD before. However if an experienced WoD player asked to play something else (say, like a Mage) I might allow it. I'd have a tough time working a Werewolf in the game (unless it was say...a Shadowlord), but I could work in a Wraith, Ghoul, Cathayan or Mage.
EnderAndrew Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Debate and the like for the game I will keep in this thread, and I will try to keep the other thread for confirmed details. We still need to decide on a schedule as that is quite important. I know we have over 8 players interested right now, but we need to know which players can all get together at the same time. I live in Central time (GMT -6) and I am online 8 hours a night at work from 11:30 PM to 8:00 AM. So late nights really work best for me, as I get to sit online with little to do. At home, my online time is more sporadic. I also have Thursdays and Fridays off, and might be able to handle a weekly game more during day or early evening hours on one of those two days.
Kaftan Barlast Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Im 7 hours ahead of you so if you had games in the afternoons, it would be ample gaming time for me. If we play while youre at work, it would mean mornings for me which is ok too. I usually sleep from 7pm to 4am your time, but I could adapt my only no-no time is about 8pm-0am when its too late AND too early to adapt. Balance is the key to keeping players interested. A bit of social games, a bit of investigation and a bit of action/combat. While we couldnt handle a Sabbat warpack, we could certainly take on ghouls or humans and lone or small groups of vampires. EnderAndrew Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 I totally agree. There are three physical Disciplines geared specifically towards combat, and so far the players have not been taking them. Then again, none of the characters concepts have focused on combat in general, so combat against a group of combat-whore vampires would not be pretty. Then again as a group, you might be able to take out one combat-whore vampire. I try to establish a bit of a balance. And sometimes plots in the WoD tend to force non-violent solutions, as violence isn't viable. If you are up against clearly more powerful foes, then you need more creative or devious tactics to succeed.
Musopticon? Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 (deleted an overly short character background, already doubled in lenght when I write this) Well, my character is quite cheesy when it comes to relations. I'm considering making him gay, but that depends on my whim. Maybe not. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food. Musopticon? Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 True, true. I just wanted some opinions. I've never written one before, save for some novel characters. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food. Musopticon? Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 I try and keep the background short, but man...my writer's block which has lasted for two months now has somehow disappeared.
