Actually, there was manga for both the Dragonball and Dragonball Z series as well as unworthy anime for them (I refuse to acknowledge the existence of Dragonball GT *shudder*)

 

Anyways, for fear of spamming my own thread, I'll post another lot of sketches I did...

P.S. Yes, Piccolo looks weird... he's my favourite character (along with Vegeta) and I always have issues drawing the characters I like the most (you never noticed how I've never drawn Carth?)... that's the only pic I've ever drawn of Piccolo...

A lot of anime focuses on the teen years since that is a pretty dramatic point in the lives of the japanese.

Not Kenshin though. The dude is 28 years old when the manga started. Don't know how old Spike is, but must be over twenty though.

Generally speaking, most manga characters look like teenagers though. But again, who doesn't want to look young? I mean plastic surgery is getting more and more popular these days, right?

I've never quite fallen for the japanese style of comics. First of all, I get this sick feeling in my stomach when I read/watch one of them and the main characters are like.. 14 at most, and you're constantly getting 'accidental' glimpses of their pre-pubescent bodies.. and especially the girls' underwear! I hate that. Then there's the japanese style of humour.. those guys are weird. And I mean WEIRD, as in W.E.I.R.D!!1!!one. And I hate reading backwards!

 

But my girlfriend loves them and owns a copy of every "One Piece" comic book that's been released in Sweden, plus a lot of "D.N. Angel" and "Ranma

I know about all of those, sadly. Never really was into any of this until my friend showed me Ghost in the Shell, the original movie. Its went downhill ever since. I try to keep to the more "european" ones, but there are some, rather way-out, animes I've take into liking. No hentai, thankfully, unlike my friend. *shudder*

The characters generally grow up faster. Thats been the case even as far back as RoboTech which I watched when I was very little. Teens idenditify with teen heroes, seems logical.

 

Excel Saga is probably the strangest thing I've seen outside of Japan on TV.
