Heckur
I think the unarmed combat system is flawed for two reasons: - Strength now adds to the attack bonus, while it should only do extra damage. - Dexterity now has no effect on the attack bonus, while it should. Look at all those martial arts we know in real live: if you're slow you won't hit your adversary. But if you do hit him, and you don't have much strength, you won't do much damage. In TSL, if you have a high DEX and low STR, you can't win unarmed fights, like against the Handmaidens or in the battle ring, because you can't hit them. Even having a feat like Finesse Melee Weapons doesn't help. Maybe we only need an extra feat, like Finesse Unarmed, to add your DEX modifier to your attack modifier. What do you think? What do you think? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You're right about the finess feats. They are only apllied when using meele wepons or lightsabers. I posted in another forum my thoughts about this very subject. Here they are: The finess feats shouldn't exist, because in real life and most martial arts it's your DEX that determines how agile and fast you are, thus beeing able to defend and attack with more speed (even when using meele weapons). As for STR, it should only be used to calculate damage or to reduce damage in case we are hit (a guy with a very high STR could have a bonus that allowed him to reduce the damage he suffers). But since the d20 systems doesn't work that way, I believe your idea about the unarmed finess is very good.
Saraya
There is an unarmed specialist feat tho. But I haven't really bothered to find out which stats it alters.... :"> I don't know if this is a very constructive comment, but maybe it could help. If you have Guardian, they usually get these feats just like that when you level up. I'm not sure tho.
mstormrage
Unarmed Combat is a direct increase in damage. It's probably in there for exactly why the OP is upset about this. Thankfully, you get this feat and its subsequent upgrades just by leveling and it doesn't cost you anything. I don't know why Obsidian made this a forced choice as opposed to how it was in KotOR I, but in a way I prefer having a feat for it and it a way it's bad because it wastes a feat that could be used elsewhere (though you have a lot of feats available thanks to being able to go to Level 40). Andkat
Isn't 50 the level cap? All jedi (along with the Handmaiden) automatically accquire unarmed combat feats.

My first and only game ended at Level 27 (18 Sentinel, 9 Watchman) so I didn't get anywhere near the cap.
Andkat
The hoghets I've been is Level 32, But I know of an individual who attained level 50, though it's probably pnly possible via modding or a bug exploit.
