Deus Ex: Invisible War

I was just trying to get you interested in playing again (well, at least I got you to get the manual out! :p ) -- the questions were rhetorical. :-"

 

Having said that, I took Hacking (never did see the point of Bot Domination) -- but I didn't think I could be invisible to people and Bots at the same time; I'd better check that!  >_<

Cranial = Neural I/F

Skeletal = Thermal Masking.

 

I know last time I was playing, when it was first released, I ened up clearing out neural i/f for cloak after the half-way mark.

 

 

Just installed the game again, and it all comes back to me with that damnable music. It hits me right in the soul, it does. Even the old unreal version of the song kicks ass.

 

I was more of a natural sneak (silent footsteps and stuff) so I never used the cloaks/thermal things.

Yeah, all the good mods are in the top couple of slots. I went for soft steps, too.

 

Only bugbear now is that my mouse cursor zooms around the screen, even on the lowest setting, like I've got ADD. >_< (I'll have to switch between game mouse and normal settings, it seems.)

 

Any good mods you can recommend?

Yeah, all the good mods are in the top couple of slots. I went for soft steps, too.

 

Only bugbear now is that my mouse cursor zooms around the screen, even on the lowest setting, like I've got ADD.  :shifty: (I'll have to switch between game mouse and normal settings, it seems.)

I can recommend electrostatic discharge (passive!). Then get yourself an energy blade. Then you can cut at laserbeam (alarm lasers, gas lasers etc) projectors to disable them. in fact, one or a few hits disables most droids. At least with the biomod at lvl 3.

 

I just loved the fact that I never had to waste any multitools on lasers. I still do, since I'm playing the game again... funny thing, I'm not sure the texturepack is doing it's job. Or I've been spoiled by new games and their high-res textures :)

 

Vision enhancement biomod is recommended... I don't think I would've found those specially modded pistols without it.

 

I also got strength. Carry more inventory, lift heavier things. *shrugs*

Yeah, always go for enhanced vision, although L3 is kinda confusing with everything outlined ...

 

I forgot about the link between strength and inventory! Does that affect the amount of items that can be stacked in a slot? Because I seem to hit a limit with some multi-tools, but not all the time.

 

Cool, I hadn't played the electrostaic / energy blade: where is the first energy blade I can get? I don't remember any in the early game part of the ...

 

(I usually have the thermal masking and even cloaking to just slip by / up close to pound them with a pistol with a silencer.)

 

I think I'll start again ...

Well the Texture Packs make a HUGE difference I have found. I installed them in the following order on a clean install: Community Pack, MicroTexPack, JohnP's ... game looks awesome now fwiiw :ermm:

And how's the performence?

Actually I found it better (though I haven't really played for long).

I'd install it and then just reintall the JohnP pack - should be ok - are you starting a new game?

I can just copy the files from the \dynamicallyloaded\ to the \english\ folder again.

 

Yeah, might as well start afresh, I was only at Cairo. Also I was playing a male to see if there was a romance option with the pilot, but I prefer playing Alyx. :D

Hmm, you can get an energy blade in Seattle. That's as much as I wanna say without it being a spoiler. The EMP damage is with ANY melee though, so a combat knife works as well :thumbsup:

 

I just love it. Swom, swom, swom. No more laser!

 

I fiddled a bit with the biomods (because you get like a gazillion of them near the end), and aggressive defense drone was also pretty nifty. I think it only drains energy when it detonates a rocket.

 

Although I love the setup with only passive biomods (except for vision enhancement).

I like passive as well. I will go and play now, I think. I can hardly wait for the swom, swom, swom! Kewl! :))

 

Yeah, I completely replaced a couple of biomod slots several times over at the end.

 

In the original I stumbled on a way to kill Simons easily: I was carrying the box of TNT back up the sub base towards the helipad when he jumped out at me ... blew his legs off! (I was a little hurt, but I had regen so I grew some legs back and just hacked him to pieces.)

 

I am sure that counts a an innovative and novel solution that the developers didn't envisage! :p

The new skins are all white! My new female Alex has a dark face and white chest :rolleyes: (because of course all females use all their abilities, including feminie wiles :) ).

 

...

 

Playing male now, I see my face has two scars on it. I thought this was silly to begin with (in a society with nano medicine there wouldn't be any reason to have facial scarring), but then I decided that it was probably a deliberate fashion statement, so that's okay then. :)
