Kotor Capital Ships

Recommended Posts

Based on views from the game, I have come up with the following measurments.

Republic "Hammerhead" Cap. Ship: 250 meters (Barely looked as big as the Queen Mary in the Peragus Asteroid view.)

Darth Nihilus Capital Ship: 500 meters (Larger than normal ships of the time but still "small".)

Onderon Capital ship: 200 meters (Based on view from Iziz)

Star Forge: 30 kilometers (Based on views where Republic ships shot at it)

Republic Frigate (Those ones that you see in groups of four that defend capital ships): 100 meters, based on views at Star Forge Battle.

These are estimations of the ships size from views within the game. Opinions may vary.

well that could have something to do with the capability to build on huge scales.

centuries later you had star destroyers at about (Guestamated sizes) 1k,  Super Star destroyers at 10km long and the Death Star at about 100km diameter

... Many Bothans gave their lives for these measurements.

worng....Executor was 17.5km, There was another type of ssd that was 12.8km though

And true death star lengths are 160km for first one and 600 km for the second one.

With this info, the Star Forge was probabaly 300km in length.

If you dont believe me go to http://http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_star' target='_blank'>

As far as I can remember, the Imperial Star Destroyer is 1.6km long, the Executor 12.8km, the 1st Death Star 120 km in diameter and the 2nd 160km,  so that's pretty good eyeballing(term?) Drachir:)

Depends on where you read it.

The 1.6 for the ISD is absolutely correct, but if you do certain calculations, the Executor could be anywhere from 8km to 17.8km.

Also, the Death Stars can be calculated to different sizes as well.

If you need more....

Nebulon B frigate: 300 meters

Coriellian Frigate: 150 meters

Mon Cal Cruiser: 1.2 km

Home One: 2.8 km

Titan Cruiser: 3.1 km

Alleigence Destroyer: 2.2km

Victory I destroyer: 900 meters

Eclipse class SSD: 18 km

Sovereign class SSD: 15km

Compared to today's vessels...

Enterprise: 1050 feet(310 meters)

Jahre Viking: 1550 feet(500 meters) (biggest ship in the world)

Titanic: 882 feet(225 meters)

You see that the largest ship today is the size of a medium frigate in star wars.

160 km for the first and 600 for the second?? huh .. the second was built on the ruins of the old, so they decided to keep the burned-out-half-destroyed-look, for aesthetical reasons, as they almost quadrupled its size?

So how big do you think that HUGE super star destroyer was from Jedi Knight?

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

Intellectuals could theorize until they sucked their thumbs right off their hands, but in the real world, power still flowed from the barrel of a gun.....you could send in your bleeding-heart do-gooders, you could hold hands and pray and sing hootenanny songs and invoke the great gods CNN and BBC, but the only way to finally open the roads to the big-eyed babies was to show up with more guns."

Good link, thank you StarKiller.

It does create a conundrum, though. Do we interpret the movies according to scientific method or artistic whim? Does the fact that the second Death Star needed to be of diameter 900km to be scaled for the forest moon of Endor, or do we take the (albeit non-scientific) artistic wish that it was only 160km?

And with the starter's pistol firing on another endless tussle between the entrenched parties of either side of yet another holy war, I bid adieu ..."

I say average the two together (530km).

It's so much easier that way.
