So, what did Vrook want you to do?

Recommended Posts

What happened to Vandar's lesson that "noone is beyond hope of redemption" form KOTOR 1?  Vrook never believed in that jedi babbling.  Such thinking is weakness as far as Vrook is concerned.

Vrook is just a practical jedi living in the 'real' world, not the traditional jedi world of hope. He understands that if redemption means wiping a dark jedi's mind and waiting for the light side to 'stick', then the Order is screwed. While Vandar might've had hope of 'saving' someone like Malak, Vrook realised that would take too much time and effort...considering the Sith's hold on a good chunk of the galaxy at the time.

As for cutting the Exile's connection to the force, there was not much choice. It seems that the Exile's 'condition' would've reached the level of Nihilus' after enough time. Good enough reason for me.

While I can understand why the council might want to cut you off, they were acting rashly, which is quite ironic. I mean, here they are, always talking about patience and reflection, and then...

"Sorry. We don't care about all you've done to help, about all the good you've done since the wars, you're still exiled. Oh, we're cutting you off from the Force too."

"Wait... give me a couple of minutes to defend myself... are you really certain you fully understand my nature?"

"Sorry, we're cutting you off NOW! Don't worry, it won't hurt.... though it will sort of be like losing all your senses at once."

They never really took enough time to study you and see if you were exactly as they thought. Why were your companions growing so much stronger if you were leeching strength from them? Is it possible that the bonds worked both ways, allowing you and your companions to share strength with each other when needed, increasing the power of all of you while doing so? They never considered that, they never gave you a chance. They let their fear of you rule their actions, which is something a Jedi is not supposed to do.

There's a great little sequence in Telos in the verbal duel between Atris and the Exile where you are defending yourself with your decision to help Revan and Malak during the Mandalorian Wars, and insulting the Council. (It's also another point, probably the major part where its revealed that Atris is/was in love with a male Exile... although you as a player realises it, you as the Exile doesn't).

Basically, Atris is talking about you only needed to wait to hear the council's judgement of the situation (mirroring Bastilla's earlier comments) so that they could then tri-....

And then the Exile jumps in with a "What? a triumph of pacifism?". I think this conversation option only opens up if you have high wisdom, but basically you verbally smash poor Atris.

Victory through pacifism is not victory at all in my mind. I always thought that the Jedi order was 'sworn' to protect the republic's populace (sort of like our police force - just with superpowers), the Mandalorian Wars was a grotesque failure for the Jedi, and I fail to see how being cautious, and allowing untold billions of lives to be lost as a victory, while they do nothing but 'weigh up the threat against the Mandalorians.' In their defence, they said something about trying to find out the 'true threat' first, well, what good is doing that if you lose to the 'fake threat'? You may as well cross bridges when you come to them.

That is why I think they are fools. Especially Vrook. I'm glad he's dead (although less with the other two, as many people have said, they seemed to be polite and actually respectful of you (because once again, you had the courage to do what they could not or will not do). But Vrook just said his piece and then they allied against you, which is more than a little bs in my opinion.

What is strange with Vrook is this: He supposed to be a LS jedi. Well, if you learned force sight from Visas (not to diffucult to get) you can see that Vrook is LS all the time. But no, he certainly didn't master it but so didn't the Zez Kai Ell and Kavar.

One word about the suggestions of Vandar. Vandar isn't dead! He didn't went to Katarr. Nobody ever mentioned that. When Revan went DS, Vandar's and Dodonna's ship got blown up, but what does that mean? That Vandar got killed?

Forget it. I mean if Revan, Bastila, Carth and a handful of Republic Soldiers managed to escape the Endar Spire, you think nobody can on Dodonna's ship????!!! NO!

If you think otherwise, go ahead and read how Kyp Durron escapes the Sun Crusher in Champions of the force (a book). Talking about impossible stuff.

Master Vandar lives!
