Although I understand the property issues involved.... ie game engine owned by bioware... franchise licenced by Lucas Arts... made by Obsidian....

Im just wondering if theres going to be some development tools released to the public like Neverwinter Nights?... this would allow us to fix some of the scripting errors ourselves... unoffically.

... and maybe wait for a patch to fix that Space Suit animation bug... and those ATI problems...

While Lucasarts don't have a problem with the Jedi Knight-series being modded, they certainly have with the KotOR-series. KotOR runs on the Odyssey-engine, which is basically the same as the Aurora engine for NWN, but with a better renderer, so there probably alot of moddable content to choose from. Too bad for us, Lucasarts made it very clear already before the release of the original KotOR, that no SDK or dev-tools will be released.

We need to modify this game at least to gives the proper "end"... what is sure missing. I dunno why, and I dont care. But I know the dialog files for these ends exist.. So we script some cutscenes at final area and there is.. A COMPLETE GAME...

but isn' t it up to the people that make the game like oe or bioware to release the tools that made the game since they own the game don't they

People do what people do...

What people who like Kotor, but are unsatisfied with the rushed execution, are doing, is modding it to better suit their tastes. It is harder without official support, but doable...slowly. And mind-numbingly, at times.

Star Wars is a property of Lucasarts. Bioware weren't allowed, nor Obsidian for that matter, to do a KotOR game without signing to certain agreements on how the franchise should be designed. Allowing mods wasn't apparantly Lucasarts top priority.

While no official tools have ever been released for either KOTOR 1 or 2. We do have tools out there either modified NWN tools or Fred Tetra's KOTOR Tool which Fred is constantly updating and is as we speaking working on a version that fully supports KOTOR 2. Currently KOTOR Tool supports most editing of TSL but has minor issues. The biggest resource that we could use would be for cchargin to get the details on the model format finished so we can have that broke down to insert new models into the game with mdlops.
