Lacan Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Never going to happen that way. How would they justify a second release on Xbox? "Uh, we were rushed around Christmas by Lucas so, uh, all you hardcore loyal schmucks shell out another $50 and you can get the real game." No way. Obsidian would go down if they admitted that. More plausible just to delay the pc version... but that's not really going to happen either.
Laozi Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Get inbed with irrelevence today People laugh when I say that I think a jellyfish is one of the most beautiful things in the world. What they don't understand is, I mean a jellyfish with long, blond hair.
Gorth Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Nah. The nice guys at LA already changed the release date from Feb. 2005 to Jan 2004 for various reasons (xmas sales, 2004 game awards etc.). No need to change it more. Thanks to all the beta testers out there, I'll enjoy my game once it becomes available In the meantime, I'll just wait patiently and occupy myself by playing Pirates! “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. DarthShad Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 They changed the date? When? Wasn't the date set to Feb. 2005 or this is just wishful thinking on your part?
Gorth Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 IIRC, the talk was of a february release. Then a december release. Turned out that some versions of the game were to be released early (december) and the rest as originally expected in february. I could remember wrong though, I didn't really follow the project that much after it was renamed from Project Delaware to Kotor2:TSL “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice.” - Albert Einstein
nightcleaver Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Yeah, but... where did you get January?? (it says 2/05 on the site still, by the way..)
Gorth Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Yeah, but... where did you get January?? (it says 2/05 on the site still, by the way..) January ??? Oops :"> Translate that to February when it's written on a friday afternoon and the drinks have started to arrive here at the office... I meant February. “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice.” - Albert Einstein
DarthShad Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 ...and I was getting my hopes up... back on topic... no way the xboxers will be willing to pay another 50 bucks for a new version of Kotor 2 so it will not happend. The only thing obsidian needs to do is fix all the bugs, and release the game on Feb 05.
Judge Hades Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 I am wondering if all the bad word of mouth crap about the X-Box version will harm the sales of the PC version. Hmmm... Well, I know I am not going to buy it unless I see tangible proof that KotOR 2 is getting proper tech support by Obsidian and Lucasarts.
DarthShad Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 I totally agree with you about the tech support, but I will buy it nonetheless. After reading the posts on this forum it seems to me that a lot of people will still buy the game. Besides, Akari already stated that they were working hard on fixing the bugs....
Judge Hades Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 And you believe everything you read on the Internet. Sorry, I want tangible proof. I want to see actual downlaodable Patches. I want to see actual fixed X-Box discs shipped to those who bought the game (something Origin did with Ultima 9 way back when). I want proof. Just because a random person, regardless if they are affiliated with the company or not, makes a post in a forum does not make it true.
DarthShad Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Call me naive, Hades, but I don't think that Akari would be stating something like that if it wasn't true. It would hurt Obsidian a lot. But I guess it's your prerogative...
Judge Hades Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 I rather be a realist than an optimist.
DarthShad Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 I've learn not to argue with you Hades, so I'm not going to start now. You can't convince someone who doesn't want to be convinced... Let's just wait and see when the PC version comes out, shall we...
Craftsman Posted December 17, 2004 Author Posted December 17, 2004 Some people will just get a pirated copy as they believe a game wiht heaps of bugs is unexceptable. Unforutmatly lucasarts seem to forget that their move will cost them as piratcy with the game will go up.
Lacan Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 I've learn not to argue with you Hades, so I'm not going to start now. You can't convince someone who doesn't want to be convinced... Let's just wait and see when the PC version comes out, shall we... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I can see what Hades is talking about. If you played LionHeart, they had bugs that went totally unsupported, with no intent/attempt to fix them.
DarthShad Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Haven't played that game. But I have a lot of faith in Obsidian, and I don't think they will let us down.
Craftsman Posted December 17, 2004 Author Posted December 17, 2004 I just dont get why they would release the game with so many bugs. The bad publicity will effect sales.
DarthShad Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 :D I guess I will take my faith and optimism somewhere else... No but seriously, let's give Obsidian a chance. They might've have release the XBox version early, but that was Lucasarts call. Not Obsidian. And about the bugs...that's is exactly why I don't own a console. If you buy a buggy PC game, chances are there will be a patch soon enough. You can't do that with a console.
GhostofAnakin Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 I think it's a little late for the XBox version, but as much as I've looked forward to this game, I wouldn't be against a delayed PC release date if and only if they can deal with all the bugs and issues that have plagued the XBox version. If nothing gets fixed (or bare minimum gets fixed, but game stoppers still exist), then I don't see any point in a delayed release. DarthShad Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Agreed to an extent. Remember that it is imposible to fix all the bugs, specially since the PC plataform can vary in hardware. What works with a nVidia card, not always works with an ATI card. So yes, I hope they fix the bugs the plagued the XBox, but that doesn't mean that the game will not have bugs in some PC systems...
Craftsman Posted December 17, 2004 Author Posted December 17, 2004 I also want the story to be fleshed out and explanied right.
GhostofAnakin Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 I also want the story to be flushed out. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I hope you mean fleshed out. "Console exclusive is such a harsh word." - Darque"Console exclusive is two words Darque." - Nartwak (in response to Darque's observation)
