GeneralCrimson Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 Here are some minor improvements that would make kotor 2 visually better: When you activate your lightsaber there should be some light under your feet and when your character is in a dark area it would be cool to be able to have your lightsaber as a lightsource like in the cave in dantooine. Occassionally there should be a small gust of wind in desert environments and dantooine or Telos that would blow the character jedi cape and hair. When you talk to other characters and NPCs both speakers should have their eyes and face fixated on each other instead of how the heads move around in Kotor especially when you were talking to Bastila after she fell to the darkside. It looked like neither character were paying attention to each other. For a side quest it would be cool to have a huge swoop racing tournament like the podracing in episode 1 with people watching you in the taris duel ring. I bet Kotor 2 is gonna be one awesome game but from what i've seen it's a mostly sad story with bad stuff happening to good people as side quests or npc chat it would be cool to have some stuff to make you laugh egs. when you get a massage in daviks estate bastila comments on how immature guys are. that made me slightly laugh and the meat bag stuff hk 47 said was hilarious. I'd love to see more of that and there could be some small reference to real life that would just make you smile like HK 47 for example his name sounds alot like a gun Ak 47 there could be scenario where a wealthy estate owner named Kanoth Lux beleives his neighbor has been secretly spending his money on weapons and battle droids and decides to find out so he pays you as 1000 credits to bust in the guys estate and find out and could continue from there... BTW if you folks at obsidian do like this scenario and wanna use it well you could email me at lordrimson@fanforce.net to find out the rest of the story or you could just continue from there. OK i know this is one long post and the guys working at obsidian will most likely never see this or will just not care but this is a suggestion forum and i just wanted to post my ideas here but by God i hope they see this and put some of my stuff in the game and if they do well u guys can put lordcrimson in the credits in ideas or something.. :D
GeneralCrimson Posted July 18, 2004 Author Posted July 18, 2004 Oh btw the scenario i made up was like a very short summary if u guys at obsidian like it i could give you pretty much a full story with every detail from start to finish if you like... and i would love to get a job with you guys but i'm only 14 but i do know how to use gmax anim8tor and gamemaker and by the time i'm 21 i should have the skills to get hired by u guys
ShinIchiro Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 Good ideas all. I think it was mentioned saber lighting would take an incredible amount of graphics work which simply isn't worth it. If I remember right from the movies, the clothes were flowing alot more. I'm not sure if the wind was influencing them though... About characters looking at you: I'm no programmer or at all knowledgable on these subjects, but that too I would think would take extremely long to do it. I think there is alot more with swoop racing that's goint to happen. I don't remember if a tournament was mentioned, but I think so.

If u ever have the chance to use gmax or anim8tor you'll know what i'm talking about but if you want me to explain it to you i can but i want to know if your even interested before i start typing nad for the clothes i thought i would be cool like as your running a small gust of win blows up some dirt your jedi cape flows to a direction some thing like that the wind might involve programming but not the cape
GeneralCrimson Posted July 18, 2004 Author Posted July 18, 2004 oh one last thing. Malak when he was young had a really cool outfit please please please let that be available for purchase in the game and make it early on in the game and revans mask was cool to and dont forget the sithmasters armor. that was the best looking sith outfit in all of kotor
mkreku Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 The Dragon Tooth sword in Deus Ex worked as a lightsource when you had it wielded. It was incredibly practical as I used it to break open crates and boxes. For some reason most crates and boxes were stuffed in dark corners and the sword really helped me see what fell out of them. Great idea! Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!

Hint.Hint Also Id like to see holsters( or sheaths for the vibro swords. You shoulden't be able to run through town waving weapons ( and I know this has bein descused before but I didn't get my say so there). It Would be cool if pistoleers could develop quickdraw skills and be gunslingert with the fastes hands in the galaxie.
ShinIchiro Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 I think the light problems had to do with the different saber colors.
Whitemithrandir Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 Black Is... I mean OBSIDIAN folks have absolutely no qualms about including quality and witty humor in their games, I assure you. Lightsaber as a light source idea is a good one but limited by the engine. As for wind billowing people's capes and hair: once again, engine limitation and quite a superflous feature in my opinion, as stunning graphics is low down on the list of things that would satisfy me as an RPG'er. Paragraphs help make your post more coherent, by the way, as well as apt punctuation. Word economics To express my vast wisdom I speak in haiku's.
Catalyst Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 The graphical issues are all down to the engine and whether or not the ideas are feasible. I'd like to see a less linear storyline, better character development, improved alignment choices, and generally more choice. Aside from that I'm happy with whatever Obsidian chooses to add, remove or doctor.
DesertHawk Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 Mmm. It's been said that there will be no light from the lightsaber, because of it taking up too much memory. It's also been said, I believe, that there will be no flowing capes because they'd have to make it very skeletal, building it into the character models, I believe. They appear to be taking much more care with the minigames. We'll get swoop-upgrades, so perhaps a tourney isn't that far over the horizon? Two cents: Nice ideas all, especially the one about the eyes. While the lip-synching timing was in general more annoying, now that I think about it...The staring into space all the time was rather odd, but looking at the camera would be worse. Sorry... While some of these features would be nice to have, maybe we'll have more luck with KOTOR 3? BTW, not to be cruel or anything but run-on sentences and no capitalization will get you not taken seriously. Also will the misuse of spell-checker, as you'll get nabbed by a little deamon named "Spellmar". Just a friendly warning. Fnord.
GeneralCrimson Posted July 22, 2004 Author Posted July 22, 2004 Umm thanks I'll take care in making sure I don't make quick and easy style typing though its a lot faster. Its unfortunate that the light and wind blowing cape can't be put in. Like I said before it's not meant to be completely there just something to make the game visually better. But I would still like to see more of HK-47's humorous comments and also Jolee Bindo's old and cenile comments. Those always crack me up. :D
