Failing... it's one of the possibilities in every action you choose to take

Failing causes hesitacion

Failing causes doubt

Failing causes fear... we all know where fear leads to, don't we??...

In KOTOR we where giving the option to fail - the twilek's dance audition to join an famous dance company - has a dark side choice.

How about if in KOTOR II we where face with the possibility to fail without wanting to, roll of the dice kind of thing with direct link to your statics, and having to face the consequences:

Example:

Companion in danger, PC attemps rescue and fails, some of the others companions refuse to folow the PC anymore

The PC meets the companions again and has oportunities to try to explain himself to them, failing could lead to confrontation and death of companions

How about it??

sounds horrible..... although its a good story idea. I dont think i'll choose the option to fail though. But they could incoorporate that into the storyline if they wanted, but then you have the problem with ls/ds.

Does anyone know exactly how the dancing was worked out?

Sometimes the character would fall even if it was 'dancing beside' the woman.

Was it calculated by dexterity?

I think that would actually be a really good idea. I think we need more failure in RPG's. It might make the game more challenging if there were actual consequences to failing a quest, rather than just a "sorry, I didn't find the parts. Ah well" "yea, ah well, now i'll just have to leave my cart. Darn"

Thats really a great idea. Plus, if it could happen with just about anything, it would make a different experienced every time. And it makes a lot of sense. Of course, it won't be in this game, however, maybe KOTOR III?

That idea was used a little bit in The Thing, if any of you remember that game

To answer the previous question about the dance audition, yes, your dexterity played a key part in whether or not you fell on your butt doing the more complex moves, or any of the moves at all.

Never assume malice when stupidity is to blame.

Thanks Adria.

I wondered how one character could dance 'close, face to face' and still stand (causing the woman to accuse you of trying to upstage her!)

whilst another character would trip up even when doing the 'simple' moves.
