Chaospread Posted December 9 Posted December 9 I'm gonna tell everyone: Thus that armor, which could be terrifically awesome against Dorodugan, it is almost unusable because its enchantment is nullified by the one of the best attack you can use in that fight... One whole day of attempts frustrated So sad 1
thelee Posted December 12 Posted December 12 hang on, are you saying that when you cast avenging storm, that counts as an attack against the caster for veteran's maneuver?
Chaospread Posted December 13 Author Posted December 13 (edited) Yes @thelee, I'm saying just that. When you cast avenging storm (at least, the scroll version) twice, puff!, veteran's maneuver is gone. Edited December 13 by Chaospread added mention 1
Boeroer Posted December 13 Posted December 13 (edited) You might want to check if stuff like Moonwell and similar benefical spells also remove Veteran's Maneuver. They trigger the Helm of the Aurochs freezing lash, too - because they get registered as "hits" - benefical (and hidden) hits, but hits nonetheless it seems. But most likely not as hits against refex, but who knows... Edited December 13 by Boeroer Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
Chaospread Posted December 13 Author Posted December 13 I'll check and refer to you @Boeroer. Anyway for Veteran's Maneuver hits must be NON-reflex but others attacks to cancel the effect, so if the moonwell scroll hit as non-reflex attacks, it can behave like avenging storm. Stay tuned 1
Boeroer Posted December 13 Posted December 13 (edited) Ach, I'm an idiot - of course non-reflex hits. You are immune to reflex in the first place, haha. Well, then I suspect some benefical spells besides Avenging Storm may indeed end Veteran's Recovery, too... fingers crossed that they don't. Edited December 13 by Boeroer Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
Constentin Lévine Posted December 15 Posted December 15 The effect of avenging storm (not the bolts) is an attack against yourself, like most of self cast buff.. Moonwell or Consecrated Ground make on yourself a roll per 3sec, Pollen Patch per 0.3s. That work very well with the freeze lash of the corn of the Auroch, or the ring of clenched muscles, but also some other stuffs like : Regrowing (Fleshmender), you are going to loose the AR bonus on each hit from buff, No Fool, I, Gipon Prudensco, you gain the bonus very fast with pollen patch for exemple, Dug In, Wahai Pogara (the speed bonus), and Entropy Shield from the Chromoprismatic staff (the damage reduction). And maybe also some other things from dlc.. 1
Chaospread Posted December 15 Author Posted December 15 (edited) @Boeroer as promised, here it is the video (turn on subtitles if you like some description of the events). Sadly, as @Constentin Lévine said, also Moonwell makes the effect disappear. Wanna end Veteran's Maneuver with only one Avenging Storm? Wear Magran's Blessing: one avenging storm plus one fire shield and bye bye veteran's Maneuver  Edited December 15 by Chaospread added text 1
Boeroer Posted December 15 Posted December 15 More like Noob's Maneuver then. Â 2 Deadfire Community Patch:Â Nexus Mods

Surely there's more "on being hit" effects from gear. I only knew about Auroch. Edited Tuesday at 09:53 PM by thelee 2
Chaospread Posted Wednesday at 08:07 AM Author Posted Wednesday at 08:07 AM Wait, "Noob's Maneuver" is a discovery of mine, with name copyrights to Boeroer Aside from jokes, a build based on self hit gear can be interesting... looking forward for Boeroer work about that 1 1
Boeroer Posted Wednesday at 05:05 PM Posted Wednesday at 05:05 PM (edited) Ist there any good gear that relies on getting hit (besides Horns of the Aurochs)? Some of them (like Sysiphos' Stone) need an actual enemy to be of use. Others (like hit downgrade conversions) make no sense with beneficial hits in the first place. From the top of my head I can't think of any additional item which could truly profit from beneficial self hits. thelee Posted Wednesday at 10:22 PM Posted Wednesday at 10:22 PM (edited) yeah the qualifier that it's from an enemy hit is something i didn't think of. i find it a bit odd that such a qualifier exists, it's apparently optional, and that some instances of "on being hit" don't have that qualifier. probably an oversight on those few items.  though i did find it amusing with a test paladin/druid i spun up that would trigger Inspired Defenses and stacks of Retribution while standing on their wicked briars. not sure i can do anything decent with that though. Boeroer Posted Thursday at 06:11 AM Posted Thursday at 06:11 AM I mean Wicked Briars does at least friendly fire, so it does hostile hit rolls. Would be funny (and great) if Retribution got triggered by Moonwell, Garden of Life and such. Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
Constentin Lévine Posted Thursday at 07:55 AM Posted Thursday at 07:55 AM Retribution trigger on Damaged case, not on hit.. Ironskin work on hit and should be fade quickly with Pollen Patch for example. Maybe it is possible to trigger a lot of damaging things (if I can speak like that) with the Rekvu's Scorched Cloak inside a wall of Flame, or a ray of Flame, and also with an immunity to the poison inside a Malignant Cloud or a Venombloom area, but it is not sure.
Chaospread Posted Thursday at 05:57 PM Author Posted Thursday at 05:57 PM Thank you guys for your commitment, next run I'll put an eye on these kind of things 9 hours ago, Constentin Lévine said: Rekvu's Scorched Cloak inside a wall of Flame, or a ray of Flame, This one I think can deserve to work on. If fire damage is counted as damage and ONLY after it is converted into health, you can trigger all "on damage effects" while being healed. When SOLO (or to made the character self-sufficient) I think you need a Druid or a Priest with fire spells and Brilliant, or better, a Blood Mage with fire spells because WoF would make little damage, better casting continuous fireballs. Rekvu's Scorched Cloak plus healing is already a good thing, but maybe it could be optimized with other on damage abilities and gear... what do you say about that?
