Hello, I'm playing a streetfighter/helwalker build, death godlike, Might18 / Constiution 3 / dexterity 19 / perception 19 / intellect 16 / resolve 3. POTD + upscaled.

Idea is to use Xoti to cast barrings death and salvation of time on my streetfighter monk to protect him from death, triggering streetfighter passive and death godlike's PL bonus at low health, increasing monk weapon scaling and sneak attack scaling, all while having 10 wounds for 10+ might. I did a run with this build a long time ago that I never finished, I remember using wilting wind from Amira's wing in stealth, while wearing nemnoks cloak (which grants barring deaths door at <25% hp), making sure to hit myself and the enemies, so I'd start out battle with 1 HP, with all  my buffs and barring deaths door. I could have sworn I got it to work like this, but I just keep killing myself instantly lol. Is there some way I can get this to work? I don't wanna have to rely on the blunderbuss distracted modal at the start of every combat.

Also side question about Single class chanter tekehu. I see the majority of ppl online say that single class druid tekehu is best. What i don't see ppl discussing is Chanter tekehu's interaction between Sasha's singing scimitar (the encore weapon ability i believe) and his Tier 8 ability avenging storm. Empowering Avenging storm makes every bolt that hits regain max phrases, allowing you to spam invocations constantly? Then i thought couldn't Tekehu constantly spam Tier 9 spells, like his tornado one that knocks enemies up?

Thank you for any answers.

i don't think it's listed anywhere in-game, but the barring death's door trigger (as well as the other ones) for nemnok's cloak functions only one per rest, so you'd have to rest in between doing this.

You're right, it's a per rest thing. I'm willing to rest in between every fight to do this. It's weird though because when i kill myself with wilting wind, the spirit shield and ironskin buffs will apply themselves on my character, but the barring deaths door will not. I kind of just wanted a very fast and efficient way to get my char to 1 hp and get him barring deaths door at the start of combat, and not have to wait for enemies to wail on him.  If you have ideas on ways to do that that would be greatly appreciated.

If the wilting wind just grazes my character to less than 25% hp then the barring deaths door will trigger, but this is inconsistent and more often then not I'll crit and kill myself. ):

Yes, it got patched at some point and turned from "per encounter" to "per rest" which turned it from "most sought after cape" into "what are those useless rags lol?" 😉

It is mentioned in the named enchantments' description that's it's per-rest. But you have to click on the names of the enchantments iirc.

Yes, that is a very good approach to SC Chanter Tekehu. Spamming Eld Nary's Curse would be my use of unlimited phrases. Imo Tornado is not so great.

It's just that Great Maelstrom is so powerful that you often only need that one spell, hence the druid. And to the way there the druid can offer those foe-only variants of Chillfog and the other water/frost spells he gets which are really helpful at all times. Plus good healing, too. I think that's why most players prefer the druid path.

You can amplify all offensive spells (including Great Maelstrom) with the great sword "Effort" and its enchantment "Hemorrhaging". This sicken/hobble debuff procs off of all(!) attack rolls (like spells, not just weapon's) and it counts as a proper weapon attack. Which makes it trigger Avenging Storm Bolts, too. If you add other attack rolls that proc off of weapon attacks (see Hylea's Talons for example or Ring of Molded Flesh) you can increase the number of attack rolls on the target(s) even further.

You can then cast Avenging Storm, then Great Maelstrom (or other offensive spells , those who pulse like Chillfog, Venombloom etc. are best) and every crit of those spells will trigger Hemorrhaging - which will trigger an Avenging Storm bolt - which can itself trigger Hemorrhaging if it crits - which thrn triggers another bolt (and so on). It's absolutely devastating.

The Effort trick using Avening Storm can also be used by the SC Chanter variant - and it's really good in combination with Her Revenge and it's multiple hit rolls against a group of enemies. But then you'll not have scimitar's effect of course.

that's weird, so even after a fresh rest, you'll just blow past the barring death's door?

are you willing to change your party just to bring a priest along? vatnir or xoti, or roll your own. then you can have them manually cast BDD, while you blast yourself with wilting wind.

Yes a kind of workaround I've done is to sneak close to an enemy, reveal myself for 0.5 seconds, pause, toggle sneak again, combat will "start" and now I have a limited time window to "pre-buff" before battle actually starts, as the enemies can't engage with me  and they'll start casting buffs on themselves or whatever. I'll use Xoti to cast barring deaths door on myself and then use wilting wind, and it works just fine. I'll just have to get rid of nemnoks cloak entirely and I'll probably switch it to the one where you get brilliant on hit, or the cloak that has a chance to negate recovery when hit.

Also side question, I've heard monk is a class that is very worth single classing due to its late game abilities. What advantages or disadvantages would it have compared to the  Helwalker/Streetfighter + death godlike/barring deaths door build? I've never been able to experience it for myself yet as I'm only level 14 atm. I may consider installing mods to change to single monk. I don't plan on doing the megabosses this playthrough, my main goal is just to do the main quest and dlcs and learn as much as I can about the game so I can do better in future playthroughs. Thank you.

The cape only triggers BDD if you go under 25% health, right? So maybe if you blast your character from let's say 30% to 0 with a single cast it could be that he goes down before the cape has a chance to trigger the BDD effect?

it sounded like what they were saying is that the ironskin and spiritshield would still trigger, which was confusing. it seems unlikely that there would be two different types of health triggers.

regardless, upon reflection, i doubt the item is implemented in a way that you could one shot yourself and still get BDD up.

I mean it's less likely to drop from healthy or blooded right to death with one cast of wilting wind - so I expect Spirit Shield or Iron Skin to trigger.

Yes, that's what I meant basically. Your dead before BDD gets cast. I also guess the other effects wouldn't trigger of you dropped from healthy or bloodied to death right away.
