In the most recent major update, Different Damage types where introduced to weapons to (presumably) to allow for more variety in weapons used. And y'know? I'd say it worked. Sense the update, I've found myself carrying around 3 different weapons at any one time. and constantly swapping between them between them based on the situation.

However, one issue I've found is that I've personally found it rather unintuitive to discern what damage types enemies are weak against. Which I personally feel holds the system back.

Going from top to Bottom.

Fresh Damage makes the most sense. Fresh damage is effective against any mob that might be associated with grossness/corruption. Stink bugs, bombadier beatles, and mushroom-infected bugs are all vulnerable to fresh damage. This makes sense and is executed well. It also helps that the Fresh Defense modifier also reduces the damage from the damage types associated with the creatures. Sadly, it doesn't get better from here on.

Spicy damage is effective against most spiders, Robots, and red worker ants. I know that "Burn the Spider" is a common sentiment. But why can't I do that to all bugs? Throw a Ladybug or Larvae into a fire and see where that gets you. And then why are red worker ants the only ants vulnerable to Spicy damage? Not "Red ants" mind you. Specifically "Red Worker Ants". Red Soldier ants do not share their lesser bretheren's weakness for no discernable reason. Hell, I'd say that Red ants should be resistant to Spicy damage if anything, given that the most well-known of the red ants are fire ants. I will concede that Robots being vulnerable to Spicy damage makes sense though; given that heat+computers=bad.

And then Finally, Salt Damage is effective against Diving Bell Spiders and Robots. Salt being effective against water-based enemies makes sense, as Salt is known to absorb moister. But then why is it only effective against diving bell spiders? Why not Tadpoles, Water Fleas, Water Boatmen, ect. And why robots on top of that. I guess Salt in sea air can damage electronic devices. But that's not exactly common knowledge, nor is it quite the same as bashing a robot over the head(?) with a wad of gum and salt.

So that's all the damage types, right?

WRONG! Because on top of elemental damages, you also have Slashing/Stabbing/Bludgeoning damage. And frankly, I don't even know how to detangle that web. I know that thick-shelled creatures are vulnerable to smashing damage (this I admit makes sense). And I think spiders are Vulnerable to Slashing damage (For some reason.) But I honestly have no idea how everything else works.

I would like to reiterate that I do like the system as a whole. It just needs to convey information to the player better. Perhaps the long-requested bestiary could list resistances/weaknesses. Or a special on-hit animation could be added for when a creature is hit by it's vulnerable damage type(s). Similarly to how Critical Hits result in sparks on impact.
