I had an idea for a roleplay character runthrough that was an evoker/ghost geomancer. 
I'd only be playing on Normal difficulty, but didn't want to start if this combo isn't feasible or has zero synergy.
Does anyone have any idea/experience about this combo?
If this doesn't work well, can people suggest other similar type combos that would work for TB?
I've read that casters are better, so I decided on wizard, but I'm somewhat flexible on the other choice.(Though I don't prefer berzerker barb because I like seeing my health.)

I see no problem with that class combo. 

It's totally viable in RTwP and I see no reason why it shouldn't work in TB mode, too.

I personally prefer an other subclass than Ghost Heart for a Geomancer though. Just because as non-Ghost Heart you can have the Animal Companion and the Essential Phantom on the field at the same time. As Ghost Heart you can only either use ghost companion or Essential Phantom.
