Amrath Posted January 23, 2021 Posted January 23, 2021 Hello everyone, I recently finished PoE 1, just started PoE 2 today. and one thing really confuses me and kind of break immersion: the day/night cycle speed. When I talk to the NPC, the game goes through a day/night full cycle every minute, which is very confusing. For example, the conversation before recruiting Xoti lasted about 4 minutes in real time and I went from day to night to day in game exactly 4 times during this conversation. The same thing happened when I met Aloth with 3 day/night/day cycles passing by the end of the conversation. How come the cycle is so fast? And is there a way to slow it down?
xzar_monty Posted January 23, 2021 Posted January 23, 2021 This sounds very odd, and something appears to be bugged with your setup. Are you playing on a console or a computer? What you are describing has never happened to me. I have also never heard of this before.
Boeroer Posted January 23, 2021 Posted January 23, 2021 Never heard about that before as well. Weird and not the normal behavior. Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
Amrath Posted January 23, 2021 Author Posted January 23, 2021 Thank you for your answers. I play on PC (Steam version) and it happens for every single conversation outside a building. I play in turn based but I doubt it has anything to do with the issue. I'll try reinstalling the game.
Amrath Posted January 24, 2021 Author Posted January 24, 2021 Quick update: reinstalling the game seemed to have fixed the issue. Time now goes by regularly (5 min talking with an NPC and only one hour ingame passed). Incidentally, I also found a mod that makes the cycle longer and that I might try out if the issue appears again: https://www.nexusmods.com/pillarsofeternity2/mods/71 1
Boeroer Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 By the way: before initiating dialogue you can pause the game (unfortunately there's no auto-pause setting for this). That way no time will pass while talking. You cannot pause during dialogue. But enemies can't find you in stealth mode nor can they initiate combat during that time. xzar_monty Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 Glad to hear the good old reinstall trick worked again!

Actually, I've already been caught during a conversation so I am definitely going to use this. Thank you both for your help.
