How do I survive Gouging Strike?

It seems like I will die regardless of what I do, since the effect doesn't wear off until the combat is over? Can I cleanse it somehow?

Having a chanter abouts is the easiest way. Other than that just kill them as quickly as you can.

What can Chanters do? Just help to out-heal the Gouging Strike dot until the fight ends?

The voidward ring reduces raw damage by 25%, so that helps a bit. And sources of regeneration (ring of greater regeneration, three troll-stitched cape, flashmender armor, exalted endurance, ancient memory, etc) can offset it. Other than that, as Hulk says, just try to end the fight quickly...

Got it. So no way to outright cleanse.

Ancient Memory and Constant Recovery cannot out-heal it, it looks like. WTF

Hmm, can't really remember a fight, where an enemy used it, because the damage is not that high. Paladin can surely outheal the effect.

Looks like Potion of Refuge can do the same - except that you are out of the fight for less duration. So I'd prefer this.

Barring Death's Door can effectively counter the raw damage over time effect.  Or drastically reduce the amount of damage by equipping Voidward and using compassionate soul essence, as the raw damage should not qualify as "veil-piercing."

Stuff like Voidward is just for 1 character though - so they are applicable only if you are soloing. But thanks about Compassionate Soul Essence. I didn't even know that existed; and it seems like a very useful thing to carry around in general!
