so, with the use of a mod that allows me to get the gunhawk(gold/brown looking bird) as an animal companion for my ranger

but, no matter what i try, i cant make their name work, they just get the name "Hawk"

anyone got any idea?

You need to manually replace "Hawk" with the name you want in the characters.stringable.

The path to find this file should be: "mymod\localized\en\text\game\characters.stringable"

Use this mod or read the description, stringtable required is already inside the mod

i had used something akin to that mod as a band-aid fix, but is there no way to just allow custom companions to be named normally?

not atm cuz the custom companion name is defined inside the prefab self
