Maybe a stupid question, but do you pay wages only to the crew members aboard, or to all the members of the roster (also the known sailors) ?

 

it seems to me the wages i pay are getting higher and higher...how do i see the wage of each crew member apart from when i initially hire them?

Only those on your ship are paid. Which means, if you are super-cheap, you take your crew off duty while you're in Neketaka.

 

I believe their pay is 1 pire per star they have.

Hover over the gold icon while in shipview to see how much you pay everyone.

Same can be done for food and drink.

Is anyone discounted? Like, say, NPCs whom you recruit in quests and should be loyal to you?

Only NPC actively on your ship. I believe wages increase as hireling level up. Can’t vouch for it, though.
