Hey guys,

So I'm all set to start on a low Resolve character (A grand total of 6) and I'll be playing a Berserker/Streetfighter Marauder (Who, I'll remind you, benefits heavily from being flanked and bloodied). I'll be suffering a pretty huge penalty to Deflection if I go through with this, and I'm slightly worried that I won't be able to survive in the state I need to get the most out of that particular subclass.

Also, my Dexterity is down to 6 because of the Action Speed buffs provided by Marauder as well as the Lord Darryn's Voulge weapon I'll be going for shortly after getting out of Neketaka (10% chance to grant Lightning Strikes on hit). I believe that 4 points below 10 is -12% Action Speed. Is that going to be terribly significant for a melee character?

Thanks for your time! I'm looking forward to starting this character, and just wanted to get that stuff cleared up.

Dumping Dex also lowers reflex defense I think, and with low RES you might get easily interrupted by AoE attacks. Just a heads up.

-12% Action Speed isn't that significant for a melee character.

Although if it were me, I'd just put Dex and Res at 10 and have Con at 8 but that's just personal preference for me.

Hmm. Alright. Right now I'm looking at

20 Might

13 Con

6 Dexterity

18 Perception

18 Intellect

6 Resolve

I want to keep Perception and Intellect at 18, but I suppose I could dump Might and Constitution down a bit to bump both Dexterity and Resolve up to 10. I don't know. My Perception and Intellect do offset the penalties to Reflex and Will considerably, though I get much less of a bonus.

I might be wrong if it has changed but Barbarian/Rogue's starting stats were:

43 Base Health (+13 per level)

17 deflection

22 Fortitude

25 Reflex

17 Will

Your current raw build:

(without other variables would be)

13 Deflection

48 Fortitude

33 Reflex

25 Will

Your build with normalized stats:

17 Deflection

32 Fortitude (Might: 15, CON: 10)

41 Reflex (DEX: 10, PER: 18)

33 Will (RES: 10, INT: 18)

Bringing up Resolve and Dexterity removes:

-action speed penalty

-the negative deflection

(the amount of a small shield)

-the longer hostile duration effects

-the negative Will and Reflex

In exchange for:

-12% added damage and healing compared to 20 Might. I'm not saying it is negative, just that percent less than your other build. Also, you lose the 15% extra base HP.

You could do it either way. But Might would still give you +12% damage and healing instead of 22%.

You could swing it either way. Overall, I'd rather start balanced and build upon my strengths without glaring holes in higher difficulties.

To add, I'm not trying to deter you from dumping Dex and Res. There's plenty of passives to balance out your defences plus equipment to factor in. If you start with nothing under 10, you are boosting your defenses with passives and equipment without having to negate the maluses.

I feel at this point and with Frenzy Deflection malus, you may as well dump Resolve entirely and focus on equipment that will provide Armor Rating, Damage Reduction and maybe Healing bonus. Maybe also stuff that procs when you're hit/crit. Enemies will hit you anyway. You might also get that Con even higher to have more of that health buffer. Definately pick Thick Skinned and wear minimum medium armor (Devil of Caroc breastplate?).

I think Nature's Embrace belt, which provides +5 Pierce AR would be massively useful, as it will greatly protect you from ranged enemies focusing on your character.

To be honest, that Dex seems terrible, particularly for a two-handed user. I mean with Frenzy, when you trigger the Streetfighter bonus (and later Bloodlust, Blood Thirst) it might be okay, but you have to trigger it first. I'd go with 10 Dex minimum, perhaps 12-14.

I also think you can lower Might a lot to improve Dex & Con. It does help quite a bit with self-healing, but Frenzy already provides +5 Might. The damage contribution of that stat is almost negligible in this build. you get +80% from Streetfighter against valid targets, +20% OSA, +15% Two-Handed, +20% Blooded. Not to mention potential for another +200%+ on crit. A few points of Might really won't change much, as they will only add a few more %.

Well, yeah. But he's going two-handed. Plus he won't start the fight with Blooded bonus and probably not with the Streetfighter bonus either. When he starts rocking the damage difference from reduced Might is even more minuscule.

How minuscule?

I am not the one claiming that X DEX/MIG is better than Y DEX/MIG without backing it up with numbers.

For 2H, under Frezy Bloodlust, DoC BP and Streetfighter I am getting 0.3 sec difference between 6 DEX and 12 DEX. So which minuscule is more minuscule?

Either way, I still believe its inconsequential and player could not tell the difference during gameplay.

First off, thank you to Eternal Dreams for providing the raw numbers!

Second, looking at the attack speed calculator, it does seem like dumping Dexterity and Resolve both would be a good way to go about things, so I'll probably go with that. Definitely aiming for DoC Breastplate as soon as I can get it, though.
