Radeon Performance Issues Patched?
Jalo Jago replied to Jalo Jago's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
bump -
Does the current patch (alright, THE patch) actually resolve the Radeon compatability issues? Has anyone found a NEW best driver set-up for the patch if so? If not, will this be sorted in a future patch? I still suffer massive FPS hits. Shouldn't be happening. Has any improvement been found in simply starting a new game? I doubt this, as I still get lag on the Sith Lord on main menu.

I'm done. My recommendation.

Of course, paying customers don't expect the post-sales support of custodian arrest and/or a hefty fine... -
If they don't release a patch,

"Do... or do not" Not exactly encouraging, is it? I'll put a tenner on the latter, thanks. -
Why has this thread become a bunch of puffed up wankers trying to speak better English than everyone else?

I haven't really got anything new to say. In fact I know I haven't. But I haven't made a post in a while, and I felt like pointing out that this is all really quite silly now. Have been bored titless this weekend though. Friday would have been such a timely patch launch. Oh well.

For goodness' sake Hades you just ignored half the points that were made here. I make a further point: this board isn't here for you to call people clueless, or to argue. It is totally unnecessary. If this board had mods you'd hold your tongue, or they'd hold it for you.

Methinks not. No content. Mod it yerself.

Of course it is a ridiculous theory. Most conspiracy theories are. But to back it up. Fact 1: Lucas Arts, who have direct control of when the game is released releases KotOR 2 for the X-Box and PC in this sorry state. Fact 2: They know when a game is faced with these problems the majority of the fanbase goes after the developers and not the publishers. Fact 3: They made critical choices to downgrade the game quality compared to the original. For example the music. Fact 4: Their QA has the patch and had it for weeks. They purposely are not letting people know what it fixes and also know the more the patch is delayed the same group of people complaining to Obsidian will even moreso get on Obsidian's case even though Obsidian has no control over the patch at this time. Need more? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Retard you just restated yourself. Do you know what a fact is?

Hades that is a friggin ridiculous theory. Back up your claims or go away.

Is it possible to transfer some KOTOR heads to TSL
Jalo Jago replied to LifeStar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Unfortunately if I open my mouth I risk opening 17 law suits against me and my pet cat. -
That is correct although all of us are a little bit pissed off about it, and it is possible to say to them 'we paid good money for it' or something like that, make them feel blame or something, anyway it's true that the one reading the email may not be involved in the developing, i just said that if a lot of emails will get to them, he might show it to someone who does, I mean... lucasarts is one of the best companys I know and I don't think they will ignore us. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh my god... if there was a way to show actual, hearty laughter in rubbishy txt! Didn't the irony punch you quite hard in the face even as you wrote that?

ON TELOS: Scripting error in NPC movement? In the lobby area of the residential area (C, I think?), all NPCs (not party members) gather round the entrance to your little accommodation area, and constantly walk in and around each other in a tight bunch. Returning to game from menu screens... normally when clicking 'close' from the Equip screen... takes about 30 seconds to resume play. Same thing happens using the Airlock console for the docking bay. In said docking bay there is a storage room, and in this there is a locker, which requires some skill in whacking/security to open, in order to gain... nothing?! Similar to above, loading transition screens freeze at 9/10 completion... sometimes unstick as above, sometimes crash entirely, requiring hard reboot. Low FPS all areas. ON HARBINGER: The holos just look weird. Couldn't even begin to describe what was wrong with them. I know it isn't a bug and I know it can't be fixed, but I'm going to shout about it anyway, because I still can't believe my eyes when I see the resolution of the movies. How can you take that first movie to feature Darth Nihilus seriously when you can only make out about three different sections to his face (white blob, red blur, white blob)? You just gotta sit back and sigh a deep sigh of despair. How can people stand for this?! It makes me so ANGRY! I hope they release some kind of downloadable expansion pack to remedy this for those who care. Can't see it happening though.

ATI video cards with KotOR2
Jalo Jago replied to Pulverizer's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Using ATI Radeon Mobility 9700, I can get the game running. Not well enough though, but it's certainly better than it not running at all. Right, so I had those BSOD issues, yep. Right where you said. Outraged, I storm onto this forum, and immediately here some gubbins about these 'Omega' drivers, and decide I should give that a try. So I do, and hurrah! The game works. Pretty easy, I think. They were Omega 5.1 by the way. I am running a 2.0GHz P-M, with 512 DDR RAM and nothing else relevant that I can remember off hand. I think with this game people only need to quote their card and drivers, though... most issues are related to those. So if you got a RM 9700, I see no reason why this shouldn't work. I don't know enough to suggest a reason why this shouldn't work for any other RM card either, though. BUT WAIT! To save you my weeks of tinkering and agitation, I can tell you the Omegas based on 4.1 Cats DO work A LITTLE better... but not much. Also, adding the line "Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1" (which I expect you've already done, but haven't been able to see the benefits of, as it isn't a BSOD fix) improves performance A LITTLE. I am still hugely disappointed. My framerate is rubbish, and I'm off to post some new bugs now. Hope this helps. -
KOTOR2 PC patch on the way!
Jalo Jago replied to Lord Soviet's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Indeed. Kotor took 3 patches to run how it does, so those who were expecting SL to run as well as kotor did have got another 2 patches to wait, at least. And personally even then I don't think it'll run as well. -

ATI video cards with KotOR2
Jalo Jago replied to Pulverizer's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I was abbreviating. Soft shadows are off... massive FPS hit. 16xAF (doesn't seem to affect FPS at all...) 4xAA, V-synch, 1280x res. Can someone link to a thread detailing how to take 4.11 OGLs and put them in 5.2s? -
Are movies fuzzy for the rest of you too?

ATI video cards with KotOR2
Jalo Jago replied to Pulverizer's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Radeon 9700 Mobility 128MB... had latest drivers from provider, then Omega 5.1, then whichever Omega is based on Cat 4.1 (I think... the Omega number conventions confuse me). Using 'DVBO=1' in .ini Still get low FPS in areas with anything even remotely busy (and still on Peragus), can't get and 6x AA or soft shadows, running through smoke is BAD. There is still lag on Darth Sion on the main screen... that is annoying me. Quite annoyed that the combination of editing .ini file and 4.11 drivers didn't help me... seems to have helped so many others. Ideas anyone? NOTE: Could get 6xAA and SS on kotor... but then I bought it after it was patched. EDIT: Just read SirDuke's post... am also getting green rubbish on my screen with Omega/Cat 4.1s. But only when I have both 6xAA and SS on... movement isn't possible. At least with the 5.2s I just got about 3FPS lol -

Jalo Jago replied to AlanC9's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The movies were definitely better in kotor1. Remember the destruction of Taris? Yup... there's a difference -
Sounds like I need the 4.11 Omegas then
-
What settings/drivers did you have on Half-Life 2? I was never really sure if it was running well or not. Nothing major, just didn't know if my machine was struggling. May be difference in RAM... I only got 512MB, though shouldn't matter too much, nothing realistically needs a gig yet.
-
Drivers + graphics settings in-game, Pipboy? You actually getting decent performance on that card?
-
Bazooka, which drivers you running? Thinkin' my RM9700 shouldn't be far off your performance, all other things bein equal, but by the sounds of things it is. Also.. anyone got cooling advice for a laptop user? All this talk of overheating's making me paranoid. Pretty sure I'm stuffed though.... bloody laptops.
-
I think there are a further two issues worth considering in this argument: 1) Laptop owners (me) are rather discriminated (if passivley) against at the moment, as they (I) have VERY limited choice in terms of graphics cards. It's not as simple as just buying an nVidia one coz they're better, either, like some of you are suggesting. It's not simple because I CAN'T. Obviously. Also, at the time of buying (personally), nVidia Go chips nowhere near compared with the RMobility cards on the market. So I got an RM 9700 (interestingly, mentioned above as well OGL equipped, though my game's utterly f*cked. I mean bugged. Well both.) 2) Those who are posing the argument that their system ran KotOR perfectly... well, I don't know, but a much larger proportion of people will have picked up kotor a few months post-release. Meaning it was fully patched and working nicely. That's what I did... full specs, 6xAA, soft shadows and 1280x res. Lovely. With that in mind, isn't it a bit early to be making this comparison as an argument either against the game or the cards? In summary: I just want a patch. Please?
