The shot of the tripods gathering the "fertilizer" from the water in the dark was probably the best in terms of visuals. Marvelous.

I never got far in Arcanum, doubtlessly because it was a demo, but the skill and attribut system brought good memories of SPECIAL and the overall vibe was a bit Thiefish(which also has a steampunk setting). Now when I'd like to play it again, it's sold nowhere.

The indrustial revolution aspect interests me the most. It's nothing new in JRPGs to mix fantasy and scifi/real world, but coupled with the seething cultural changes, enormous population movements and such could prove and interesting backdrop for gaming. On the other hand, maybe I'm reading too much into it and we'll happily trounce through woods and cellars killing rats with "modern" weapons and original spells like fireball.

I liked it too, but share your thoughts about the ending. The stride...tripod call was so damn ominous.
